Anyone squat barefoot

Just a thought give me some input.

Its pretty commonly accepted that using a belt or straps are a crutch. They are allowing one part of the body to be stabilized while working another while ignoring the one theyre stabilizing. So everyone loves chuck tayors for squatting because of their support and stability. Well arent they inhibiting development by doing this???

um, i squat in flip flops in the summer. wearing anything that doesn't bind you allows for more muscle use. like these dudes i see squatting in jeans. sweet baby jesus.

It's not that the Chucks are so supporting and stabilizing, it's that other shoes are so DEstabilizing.

I squat in oly shoes. Using regular runners and leaning forward too much caused a lot of knee issues, so I bought the oly's. I've pulled deads barefoot, but I still prefer a shoe for better grip on the floor.

i wouldn't because i feel shoes help stabilize my weak ankles... they are weak from multiple sprains back when i was in HS and college when i used to actively play soccer. i just too paranoid about accidently twisting and spraining my ankle with 400+ lbs on my back.

I couldn't get my balance down until I dropped the shoes. Now I squat w/out shoes everytime. Although, interestingly enough, I found that after about a year of squatting barefoot, I've now got the flexibility to do a nice deep narrow-stance olympic squat w/ shoes. So now I squat barefoot for more of a power style squat, and with shoes for a high-bar oly squat.

The last time I tried to squat in bare feet and some cut-off jeans it was going well until I reached three plates. Something different must happen to me at three plates that wasn't happening during the earlier weights since the cut-offs ripped from knee to groin on each leg as I started to come out of the hole.

I've tried neither bare feet nor squatting in jeans since then.
