had a personal experience with benzo addiction.. i ask because my friend pretty much is on xanax all day everyday.. and in my eyes he's pretty much addicted.. been reading lately about withdrawing from benzo's and i've read that its more harsh than withdrawing from heroin. anyone would like some insight into personal experiences with my situation thanks..

benzo addiction isnt toooooo bad if you have long half life benzos to take and wean yourself off them properly. cold turkey would be far harsher, as well as potentially very unhealthy

Same thing. They gave me Paxil and it made me feel like a zombie. Just have to find the right drug for you if you need it. Klonopin did the trick for me and it's much better than xanax because it's longer acting. No matter how hard things might get, if I pop an extra klonopin, it makes things much easier. I rarely have to do that.

I hesitate to tell people because so many of them are so goddamn ignorant. They think you are weak and it makes me want to kick the shit out of them. LOL I think the problem is caused from an overload of stress. Your body and mind can only handle so much before you begin to have bodily symptoms. Mine got very bad before I finally sought treatment.

You need to go to a psychiatrist. Regular dr's aren't equipped to deal with this type of problem. They are afraid to prescribe you a medication that can be addictive. I only have to see my dr. once a year. Just in and out. How are you doing? Fine, thank you. 2 of my friends have since been prescribed klonopin and one of them said that it saved his life. He credits me for saving his life. That's nice.

I've never been on any, but my GF has. I have seen her on/off and can tell a huge difference. She's got a few classic disorders, OCD and obsessive personality. Its challenging at times, but managable with drugs.

I've been on Paxil for 18 months, and I've only heard horror stories of people coming off - no one, anywhere was ok doing this no matter how small they made the reductions when tappering off. Its occurred to me to switch to another that will be easier to come off, but I really dont know where to start.

Not true. I was on it for 6 years. was on 40 mg when I quit I think. 40 mg 1st month. Dropped to 20 mg for 2nd month. 10 for third. % for last, and then done. No problem here. I had to get off that shit. You ever look up all the lawsuits against the drog company for that shit. It made me lazy, depressed, feel like shit alot of days. Ruined my libido. It's a fuckin shit drug! I wouldn't suggest it to anyone.

I think that drug may have given my dad Parkinson's disease. I took it once. just one day and felt like a fucking zombie.

Only on 20mg's, ..been mildly effective. I dont know why they still make the drug. I was in hospital for a year and only found one person it worked for.

well a somewhat healthier way would be to taper down using valiums. Of course he would have to want to quit taking them first. I reccomend going to a doctor and being honest because people are more likely to seize when they come off of benzo's. If he is taking them in excess and suddenly his dealer stops selling then he could stand a chance at seizing or having a lot of other unpleasantries.

a few years ago i was on about 20-30 mgs of xanax a day for about 3 months then lost my connect and i literally could not even begin to describe the hallucinations and feeling... my dad told me i thought he was an international spy ...lol and all kinds of shit... he said i went on about an underground labrynth for like 4 days... moral of this story is stay away from that shit on the regular

A buddy of mine went through xanax withdrawls pretty much cold turkey. It looked like it was hell. I don't think he left his house for anything except maybe the hospital for all of winter break, which was almost a month.
