Has anyone work with them before or know much about them?
I need to do SWOT analysis on them... so i need to write about their strengths, weaknesses, oppartunities and threats.

I know it's Sweden's #1 weapon at siphoning money out of the US by tricking us into buying over-priced crap.

All made in china.

they sell the most delicious swedish-imported raspberry cookies

that would be one of my weaknesses
yet also an opportunity to enjoy a sweet treat
however they constitute a serious threat to my waistline

opportunies - geographic expansion, huge market in furniture, always changing and old trends stay popular

threats - cost cutting, million pieces

weaknesses - disposable furniture, low cost but low quality, million pieces

need more please

lol @ SWOT analysis. I remember having to do that garbage.

Strengths: Easy Mobility of product compared to others in market due to it being disassembled, Style, mass production

i got enuf strengths
i need weaknesses, oppartunies and threats please

If I do your homework, will you do mine? :)

Strenghts: Brand recognition, low costs, wide variety of products
Weaknesses: Quality concerns, customers not interested in self assembly
Opportunities: Full service furniture markets
Threats: other wholesale distributors, customers rebel against brand (e.g. IKEA is the new K-MART and has a stigma)

No.... but i did create their online catalog system for 17 of their IKEA Int. Markets.

I can FEEL how much you dont care.

w - it is complete shit
o - go out of business, mass suicide
t - Americans who have more than 4 brain cells and $50 in their bank account

I actually like some of their furniture -- some is crap, some is nice, you need to shop around in the store to determine which is which. That could be a weakness -- difficulty in determining quality.

S : good Quality/Price ratio
W : Quality/Price ratio no longer good enough

returns is a definite weakness. Took about 2hours of waiting in line.

Delivery service is good.

Prices are pretty good.

Desk equipment is not great -- home furniture is better.

:)

in 1987 they came to Long Island and my parents bought me this "system" for shelves around my bed.

It was horrendous. They also bought some bookcases. I didn't know there was such a thing as plastic wood until IKEA came along.

LOL!!!!

Plastic wood. Thats a good one. My wife has never liked there stuff so I've been fortunate in that area.

Their furniture is great for college apartments, and starter homes. Very cheap since the catch is you build it yourself. It looks nice too, although some of it is cheaply made. The beds work well. ;)

Plus they have some awesome food in their restaurant area of the store.

You need some serious deprogramming.

neat looking stuff they have at low prices compared to other furniture store..but once you put it together..don't move it..it'll fall apart somehow when you move....slowly replacing ikea stuff i got with real wood tables/dressers

What's funny about that is I bought a bottle of water from Ikea once while I was there -- and got the WORST case of food poisoning EVER from it. I was with 3 other people and 1 of them also bought a bottle of water -- we both got it!! I'll NEVER EVER eat/drink at their restaurants.....

I haven't ever been in an Ikea, but I've seen their catalogues. I must admit, their catalogues are designed pretty nicely and make their products seem quite appealing.

too bad the quality is low and there is a building stigma around most of their stuff.
