The picture is distorted on my tv.

I have downloaded a software update from the Phillips and tried that ;but thats not what is wrong.

Its a Phillips plamsa tv

I'm hoping to not have it serviced what a pain in the ass.

anyone help a girl who knows nothing about this sort of thing?

I don't know if it would happen with a plasma, but my friend got a flat tube tv that I guess had been transported nead some speakers and the magnets in the speakers distorted the picture. He was able to get a different one, but the people at Best Buy said that was most likely what happened.

^that only happens on CRT televisions... this is a plasma.

not to stir the pot, but phillips tv's have one of the highest failure rates on the market =/

hmmm.

I've had it for a while; at least a year and a half.

I HOPE thats not what it is.

See I've never had a tv fixed before. If they break ; you buy a new one right? Well FUCK. This one was a little bit more expensive. lol.

FUCK!

Do they really? I thought they were supposed to be good.

If I have to buy another one; what's good?

They are good... they just have a high failure rate, hence the surplus of refurbished units on the market...

I would call them first, there should be a number in your manual.

ZK, how do you feel about LG tv's ?

LG manufactures panels for a bunch of manufacturers... that said, I'd probably go elsewhere for performance/price ratio. Honestly, if you want a plasma... panasonic & pioneer, if you want an lcd, sammy & sharp depending on your needs and pickiness and whether you can handle a shiny screen.

I only know this stuff because I have bought a lot of them and have an insane fear of buying bad things... I always over-research.

You can come over and watch mine

Maybe it's the input on the TV. It could be many things, and without more info, it's not too easy to troubleshoot.

Do your regular TV channels look bad, and or HD channels?

What is 'distorted' picture? Explain.

Does your DVD player picture work? If so, then it's the input on the cable connection or the cable TV end of things.

Take it out of "input #1' and change it to "input #2" for a quick try and see if that changes things.

If you already have other things in there, then you'll find out just by seeing if the DVD player works right or not.

need more info. good luck

Distorted as in the color seems to run up and down in lines ; and its on all channels ; HD ; regular channels ; DVD's and even the menu screen.

So yeah ; basically DVD's look distorted too.

There are only 2 places that I know of that can come service it and they are talking like it could be weeks before I can have someone come out!! I would love to be able to figure out what the hell is wrong with it before that. lol

Its hard to explain what its doing ; not only is the color running ; but its not the right color either.

No idea. Sorry.

You could go into the settings and adjust them (colors etc..) a little but I highly doubt it's from that.

Maybe try and move the TV to another part of the house and plug it in. Another long shot, but you're waiting for the service guy anyway.

Please update us when you get it fixed. good luck
