DMSO is expensive, some use it in Prolotherapy which is what your talking about for joint pain, the knee one is painful BUT it works.

mixed with other things, it works tremendously.

DMSO works great but you can get relief by using a derivative of DMSO called MSM. MSM is cheap and you can buy it at any regular store. DMSO has a smell to it that I don't like but if you can stand the smell, than it is great! Also be careful about applying DMSO to the skin. It acts as a trnsporter through the skin and can carry infectious diseases, bacteria, and all sorts of stuff with it through the skin! I hope this helped.

the gell itself smelled like a dead monkey's ass, but I didn't get any of the bad smell coming from my skin that i've heard some people get.
