I am going on Saturday, I've only been one other time, long ago.
What should I wear? any tips and tricks? They sell a bunch of different paintballs, does it matter what type i get?
strategy?
I've seen guys wear just tshirts and shorts, but if you don't want to feel too much pain wear something fairly heavy. My experience is in an indoor arena where the guns aren't set past 250 fps. Many people just double up on clothes, or wear something heavy like an army jacket (stiff canvas type). Myself, I wear a tshirt with big patches covering the back and shoulders, and over that a big black long sleeve sweater. For pants I wear jeans underneath black sweatpants. So I basically doubled up on shirt and pants. Wear an old pair of shoes if you are playing in a public indoor arena, because your shoes will get all full of paint and paintball chips. Bring an extra pair of shoes so you can change them after your done. Also, I like the "doubling up" on my clothes because I can strip off the outer layer after I'm done playing. This way you will be left still wearing a clean shirt and pants (but a bit soaked with sweat) and have clean shoes on (after changing them). Then bring a bag or something to put the dirty clothes and shoes in.
Believe me, you will be glad you did this because its alot easier than cleaning all the paint stains and paintball chips you left in your carseat and floor during the drive home! The paint doesn't permanently stain, but still a pain to clean. When washing clothes, its best to wash them seperately from your normal load because the paint and chips will get onto the other clothes. that means washing the load over to remove the paint, or going around with paint residue on your otherwise clean clothes until they get washed again.
As for strategy, if you want to be gung-ho and get right in the action its more fun but you get shot quicker. But if you want to play it safe, then just hang back and pick your shots. Thats not as fun but you last longer.
Oh, and always take cover and shoot from there. Being out in the open too long will get you shot every time. And when you do move, try to have someone covering you as you do.
Thas all I can think of at the moment. Oh, and bring money for snacks and drinks, because you will build up a thirst and hunger from all that running around.
