anyone here ever use these forearm grips?

never thought i needed them...but if i was gonna get into rock climbing then maybe.
my grip is not a weak point of mine

Those are worthless, you want this:

btw- all grippers break if you use them enough. Bending metal creates friction/heat, that in turns weakens the springs, they'll eventually give.

hey I"m just crusin for feedback. I thank you for telling me about that other product, I"m lookin at it right now. You have that one?

We've sold em for years, along with the standard ones. At least with the super grippers you get an adjustable one and it'll cost you half what the others are.

I have some ironmind ones; don't use them much. should have gotten stronger ones.

how about the half life on those springs??

depends on the user, most people buy them with good intentions and use it for 2 days. so it's really hard to say. replacement springs are available, whereas the other ones you have to buy the entire thing again.

I think I'm sold on the ivanko gripper, thanks puddles. Tis why I brought this up here.

Are we talking about metal fatigue? Ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

I know a guy who competes in all this stuff. He even certifies his grips...after many many uses. They dont fatigue very fast. Good thing ot have laying on your coffee table too.

Check out the Captains of Crush grippers on ironmind.com. Great grippers with very high quality springs that last for years. I have several of them, they run $20 each.

I have the Captains of Crush Trainer, #1, and #2.

I can close the #2 once with my right hand and that's a max effort. . The heavy grippers do not compare imo. I've heard good things about that Ivanko gripper too.

On a good day I can get the #2 for 10 reps right and 5-6 left hand. I'm wanting to close the #3 by years end.

LOL!

Yeah I try and use them at least once a week. Need to go back to a heavy and light grip day. The big layoff in training has killed my grip strength.

how do you train with those things? Is it something you try to do everyday? Aren't forearms kind of like calves in that respect..........you can hit em everyday and still do day to day activities for the most part.

All one has to do is get a 10ld sledge hammer. Grab it up on the handle to where you can move it for numerous reps and keep working your way towards the end of the handle.

No you can't do it everyday just like you can't really hit calves everyday.

I do two variations on the grippers for this purpose I'll refer to them as light and heavy. These are two seperate workouts I suggest you either do them on two different days during the week or do one one week and the other the next week alternating accordingly.

Light:
Warm-up with the Trainer 10 reps
Gripper #1 10 reps
Gripper #2 10 reps (I force the reps by pushing my knuckles agains my leg if I can't get 10 clean)
Gripper #1 10 reps with a long hold on rep 10
Trainer 10 reps pausing each rep at close

Heavy:
Warm-up with trainer 10 reps
Gripper #1 10 reps
Gripper #2 as many free reps as I can get up to 10
Gripper #3 Forced reps (close it as far as I can then push against leg to finish, then try and keep it closed as long as I can) 2-3 reps usually
Gripper #2 as many reps as I can get pausing each rep at the closed position

I'd look funny with a sledgehammer in the office.

good shit scot's. My ivanko gripper should be in tommorrow. So from what I see from you, "don't" go under 10 reps?

Only after I pre-exhaust.LOL

Problem is you need to be able to do about 10-15 reps with one gripper before you can move up to the next one. They have half step ones now 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 available but I haven't bought the 2.5 yet.

I just ordered the full set two days ago....

100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350

I'm not sure which ones I'll be able to close as I've never tried them....

umm yeh like you'll be able to do reps on a 350 lbs gripper :sarcastic:

these are pretty good man, my friend recommended them....after using them for about a year, he deadlifts 6 plates with no straps....he used to needs straps for 3 plates

I'm gonna say no on three hunnerd and three fiddy for sure.

sledge hammer will deveop wrist strength and not grip strength

I used to do both when I used to arm wrestle...but never used these grippers - the heavy grips. I just ordered them - should be interesting

got my invanko today. Seems kind of stupid that they don't have a force printout for all the different position combinations. But I know you can get em online...........but still.

you e-tards do know those numbers don't mean shit, right? Not regulated in any way, total estimate and nothing more. Same with the stretch tubing.

how do you figure? I mean those springs are pretty well toleranced. So if there's discrepancy it can't be more than 10 pounds either way.

Once you can crank out 20 pull ups with your body weight start adding weight with a belt. I'm old school...if that doesn't increase your forearm girth I'm your sister and your mother...

I disagree with the 10-15 reps before you can move on to the next gripper. By no means am I a grip guru but I have closed a #3 CoC one time in my life. The most I was able to do with the #2 was 3 or 4 reps. Focus on singles, negatives, holds etc. You need to develop one rep crushing strength to move to the next grippers not rep strength.

Yes, I agree with this post.

Imagine trying to rep 15 on the 300 lbs one before moving to the 350 lbs one

Well that's what COC says is a general guide in their training info. I can do 10 with the #2 but still haven't closed the #3.

If posting another forum is against elite rules I'll gladly delete this, but go to The GripBoard (Grip Strength - Your Number One Source on the Web) if you want to close that #3 sooner than the end of this year.

Thanks for the tip. Closing the #3 isn't a big priority for me really which is why the long time frame. I could probably do it in a month or two if I focused on doing it. I'm more worried about getting back my holding strength that I've lost in my layoff from training.
