I have a little experience in that... Behr makes a concrete stain (NOT paint), which is much more durable than paint, and won't chip right off the first time you walk across it with a stone in the tread of your shoes. It's not a big job, but you have to be sure to clean it really well first. Being indoors, I guess you can't pressure wash it, but at least scrub it and vacuum up the water with a shop vac. Let that dry VERY WELL for a long time too, or you will get bubbles and blisters in the stain. If you don't think there's any grease or goo in the concrete, you can probably get away with a really good vacuuming (no water).
There are other things you can do to it, including the various rubberized and fake granite garage floor coatings. Check out Home Depot or Lowes.
