Anyone ever get a "leaving the scene" ticket??

If you saw my post last you week you know I got into a bad accident, no other car were involved, just my car, a guardrail and a rock. OK, so I freaked out after the accident, I was half delirious after smashing my face on the airbag and getting flung around inside my car. so i drove off and then pulled over about 2 blocks down and got out of the car to assess the damage and borrow my friends phone to call the cops. before I could even get the phone the cops came and started questioning me if I was drunk and what not because they knew I had left a club around the block. The cops gave me a ticket for "leaving the scene of an accident", this is 2 points on my liscense and probably a descent fine. If I explain to them I wasnt in the right state of mind and pulled over only 2 blocks away do you think they will reduce or ammend the ticket????...i dont care about paying the fine but after finally having all the points off my liscense I really dont want any more.

Hold on, doesn't "leaving the scene" only pertain to when there is actually another person or car involved?
I mean, it was only you & no one else...right?

not as far as i know but that would be great if your right.

..there is:
leaving the scene of an accident (2 pts)
leaving the scene of an accident -personal injury (8 pts)

im hoping since noone else was there, they let me go???

If you hit something there is someone else involve, in this case the state, city, whoever is responsible for the guardrail.

More than likely they will drop the points if you go to court and tell them what happened.

im hoping, another good thing is the rock and guardrail had no damage even though my car was demolished practically.

well like big4life said...I hit town property, which means according to the law I have to stay there and call the police.

for some un-godly reason, all the cops around here where I live feel the need to give someone, doesn't matter who, a ticket when they get in a wreck. Local, county, and state cops. What does this serve? as if it isn't punishment enough they have to pay for the accident. bastards.

Serious?
Ya ever looked into this? Checked any local laws/bylaws?
I'd seriously look into this...
it'd only reinforce your case if it wasn't so.

I once spun my car into a telephone pole when the roads were super icy. I got situated and drove off. No point in calling the fuckin' cops about it.

I hit a sign when I was in highschool. I honestly didn't know about that law at the time but someone had called me in, they wanted to give me 2 tickets, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and also leaving the scene but the cop believed me when I told them I honestly had no clue, and I wasen't drunk or anything so I think that helped...
