My computer is 2 years old and I will probably rebuild this year. Going to try the game out today, but have a 2.2 ghz athlon 64, 939 socket (overclocked a little), 1.5 gigs pc3200, 200g sataX2 drives in raid-0 and a geforce 6800 gs (stuck with agp interface on my board so about the best I can do for now).

Should I be able to play with anywhere near optimal graphics settings?

And anyone else tried this game and like it? Tired of MMORPGs. Sold off my Wow characters and made a decent chunk of $$$, and want something I can play when bored solo.

X3 Reunion is hot too.

Poink, wife bought it for me as a bd gift with our new gym membership. Going to check it out this afternoon.

I'll probably build something with a core2duo (they seem to respond well to overclocking) and just a single 8800 gtx and 4 gigs of ddr2 later this year when I feel like spending the money.

I have a Duo Core Pentium, running 1g 4200 Ram.

As long as you are running Windows, you are pretty much limited to how well it is working that day.

BBF,
that game is tight. I played it on my brother's computer which is a P4 3.2 ghz with Geforce 6600GT
It ran just fine, I thoguht the game was beautiful.

I'm sure your system can run it as is.

Yeah aftermarket boards usually support 4 gigs.

16 gigs

32-bit operating systems wont support that though.

Ask JH1 what he's packing, bitch could probably play it on full settings.

wait, so it is the software that wont recognize anything more than 4 gigs ram, or is it the hardware?

XP sees gigs as 3 gigs

Vista will see up to 16 gigs I think

Either or... sometimes both.

First your hardware has to support it, then your OS, then the specific program..

Most OEM MB's won't support above 4gb...

because that's what it needs to run solitaire.

I have a similar system with 2gigs of Ram and a midrange video card 512 mb. It stuggles with the current massive games like GRAW

I'm not much of a gamer, I just don't have the patience to wait for shit to load.
My PC is a Mustang. but I drive it at 15mph on a school zone.

I took my PC in for maintenance and had to use a 4yrl DELL for about a week.
Didn't notice much of a difference.

Nada... first off... none of the games are DirectX 10 compliant... so running them on Vista is all fugged up, it works but the graphics blow.

And they aren't in a hurry to fix it just yet. Because you have to have a directX 10 compliant card: Read G80.

And nVidia is blowing everyone off! They haven't even released G80 Drivers for Vista! I can't even get them... I got a G80 card on loan, but no drivers... not even alpha setups! What a joke. So i've yet to see directx10 on vista...

But I do have a g80 & and a 7950gx2 in my comp right now.. LOL... I want another G80 and SLI them up once the vista drivers come out and I can get a game that will run x10..

You should definitely move it up to 2 Gig of Ram at minimum, it makes a significant difference. It's pretty cheap so its a good cost/benefit upgrade. The video card for someone like you is a waste, so just use the onboard.
