I admit I am a little freaked by the new terror alerts. Living in Tampa where central command is located sure doesn't make me feel any better!
Anyone else thinking about buying a gas mask??

no. those things look terrible. they don't go with any of my clothes. and besides, those gas masks have a limited life to them, I think 2 hours. So all that means is you'll watch everyone die then 2 hours later you'll be dead too. FUN!!!

The nerve agents are absorbed through the skin. A gas mask won´t protect you.

Why? So:
a) I can die when oxygen runs out and I have to take off the mask.
b) Assuming oxygen never runs out, I die when I starve to death because I can't take off the mask to eat.
c) Assuming all of the stinky bad stuff goes away and I can take off the mask, I die when I starve and there's no food to eat.
d) Assuming all of the stinky bad stuff goes away and all the cows were wearing masks too, I die when the government gives all the food to the "less fortunate" first and there's none left for me because I'm white.
This is the whole point of terrorism - scaring the living shit out of people so that they cannot live their lives as they normally would. With all the media alerts and scary speeches by the president, while all al-Qaeda has is a few poorly recorded audiotapes that "may" be Osama bin Laden's voice (what? he's not as photogenic as he used to be before we blew up Afghanistan? where are the videotapes?), it seems to me like the terrorists right now are the US media.

We have Hurricane supplies already, so that should
cover the real need of shortages that might happen.
The one thing I am making sure of is that my Truck never has no less than a 1/2 tank of gas and the BBQ grill propane tank is filled.

Funny you mentioned this...I have a pair of fully charged dual 80's in the garage. They are for deep diving and cave exploration. I thought about bringing them inside since its free.
I'm really not the least bit worried about it though. Why would terrorists attack a rural area of

there is a military contractor compound a couple miles from my house. They are pulling people over if u drive past it...which during rush hours in the AM means 1-2hr+ if u leave late
