for getting information
if you want to search on something that it's possible to sell too
most of the links are sales based, way most
I find myself going through page after page until I can find decent discussion etc.

i google everything, even my mom who is 60 was like.. oh google it... and she doesn't even know what ebay is! so i guess not my friend :)

i heart google

It's been going that way for years. My high school teachers used to recommend Google for everything, as it was considered not only the best and most thorough, but an academic search engine not yet corrupted like others of the late '90s.

It was only a matter of time.

I've noticed over time too,but it seems to have especially intensified in the past year.
used to be able to search a bio-psych drug and the first page would link with many useful forums and other knowledge
now it's weakly camoflauged sales sites and/or the same cut and pasted info for 10 pages
interesting as google trades for about $450 a share and it's buying out youtube and shit for a billion and a half
so where's the next shift?
google is becoming e-bay
amazon is losing and they're all looking like online Mao-marts

i'm starting to notice it too

too many ads and links to ebay in my searches, if i wanted to know if something was available on ebay, i'd fuggin go to ebay

The almighty dollar claims yet another victim. People always find a way to treat money as something more than a means to an end.

so then another engine will pop up replacing google
then they will cave to ad $$ and the cycle repeats itself

I'd fuckin' short google
I haven't had much to do with myspace in the year or so I've had a site, but even when I occassionally go there I've noticed every page crammed with ads, bell & whistles
youtube's gonna suck too in short time

myspace 900 million
youtube 1.6 billion
google buys both for 2.5 billion
and their consumer base is finicky

YUp. Spammers have figureed out how to take up like 6 spots on the first page each for the same site. But unfortunately still the best search engine that I know of!
