Anyone do dumbbell lifts with resistant bands?

Today I did flat dumbbell and incline dumbbell bench with a strength cord around my back adding resistance to the press, we've added alot of these resistant bands to our lifts in our baseball training, i really like it, it helps with exploding the weight up but keeping it under control, i can see this helping people get over their plateaus, we also do these with step ups, ez curls, tri extension, squats, shoulder presses

i've seen something like it where the guys put those PT bands on the bar doing bench. i think it's retarded because if they want more resistance they can just put on more weight. it makes no sense to me to use bands to add resistance.

It is not the resistance per se but the increase in resistance as you near the top of the lift that makes bands important. It works great for increasing your bench.

The thing to be very careful of when using DBs in this fashion is the extra load on minor muscles. If you allow the band resistance to go outside the natural planes of motion of the exercise then your rotator cuff and scapula are likely to be under more load than you'd like.

that's a good point. i didn't think about the more resistance the higher up you get.

i use bands with db's to do flys.. when you do db flys you basiclly only work 1/2 the lift.. do them with bands and your acutally increasing intensity at the points were db's have no resistance.. top end..

db bands is like having a cross over pulley machine..

different kind of resistance. adding a band keeps the same resistance throughout the push/pull whereas with just the weight everyone has their sticking or easier points of the ROM.

How do you do that? With the bands going out to the side, or up from the floor?
