That video was on the morning news today. There is a fund raiser to send the grandmother on a vacation, and kids are ratting out the other kids by posting their names and addresses in the comments field of the youtube video.

A parent does not need to tell a child specifically; a parent teaches by example. Children take cues from their parents by observing their behavior and how they interact with others and/or talk about others. Sometimes a lesson does need to be instilled. For example, when I was about 8 or 9 years of age some neighborhood children and I were playing out in front of my house. Some girl I didn't know terribly well did something (I forget specifically what the action was) that caused me to blurt out "Are you retarded or something?". She immediately broke down in tears and ran home. My mother, who was on the front porch, witnessed the whole event and went "Wrath of God" on my ass. She told me that the young girl was in fact mentally handicapped. She marched me down the street, made me go to the front door, and make a direct apology to the young girl in front of her parents...of which I did willingly as I felt (even to this day) remorseful for doing such a mean thing to a person.

Life lessons...I will never forget the lesson I learned that day.
