if so please share you story.. and then ill share my story how my brother got scammed a couple days ago by a new furniture scam they are doing now.. he lost 2 grand.. lol..

my college roommate almost got screwed by that scam. They wanted $200 for these speakers, had the magazine showing the retail was like $1000, drove with him to his ATM... he got there and knew something was shady and gave them a big fuck you.

Is this where they drive a HUGE truck down residential areas going door to door trying to sell off furniture?

When I worked for the local paper back in the late 80's we did a story on the different scams that were going on at the time in my city. Here are a couple I remember.

1- The van pulls up beside you and tells you they were delivering furniture, speakers, whatever, and they had some extra stuff on the truck, so they are trying to sell it. In the case of the speaker scam, you ended up with crappy speakers, or a box of bricks.

2- The magazine subscription scam. They hit a neighborhood, usually one with elderly people, and sell subscriptions to raise money for college / scholarships. The only problem was there were no magazines.

3- Then there were the usual home repair scams. We would have groups of people come through who would prey on the elderly, telling them their houses needed new roofs, painting, or other things.

circa 1991

got taken by the speaker scam.

like a jackass, I didn't have money so I wanted "home speakers" so bad (to put in my car no less) that I took them to my place to trade them for my home receiver and most of my cd's.....PWNED!!!!

back in the day the big thing was to have the loudest car. I had the amps for it, but needed the speakers....so that was the way to do it.

those speakers sucked ASSSSSS!!!! plus they looked uber gay with the wood grain finish in the back of my car....

sheesh!

Sancho home speakers is pair of 6x9's stuck in corner of living room.

I didn't exactly get scammed, but I did learn to keep my ass out of business that I should not be in. The white van speaker guys tried to hawk that shit to me once while stopped at a stop light. I kept telling them to leave me alone, but they are some persistent bastards....I was on a serious stack at the time and lost control....and I racked my piece and told them to take a hike....they went ant told the nearest cop, and then I had 20 of them on me...I was in traffic and could not get out....I didn't know there was a precinct a block away.....so the dickheads got away, and I went to the can for a while....talk about irony!

I saw the Huge Moving Van sized truck selling furniture come down our street maybe a year ago. All sorts of stuff, recliners, couches, tables etc.

Looked OK on the outside, but..

If it sounds too good to be true ...
