Anybody familiar with Sunnyvale, California?

The Machine,

I lived in San Francisco for 8 years. I've been down to Sunnyvale on numerous occasions. It's very much a bedroom community for the Silicon Valley folks.

Everything posted above is correct.

BE WARNED: Very Very expensive. Believe it or not but there are a lot of people who work in Silicon Valley but live in Las Vegas. They commute via air everyday because of the high cost of living there.

You're better off living in the East Bay and driving down the peninsula every morning.

The best route to take is relocate in Tracy and commute.

Takes about 45 min.

Houses there are 1/3 price of what it costs in the Southbay and the commute is not that bad.

You just have to trade off some things. But Tracy is a popular place to live for Bay Area people

I worked there for over a year. These posts are pretty much correct: its also a VERY BORING suburb in my opinion, close to San Jose/Palo Alto, about 45 minutes to San Francisco. Plan for: HORRIBLE traffic on the 101 if you commute, WAY overpriced houses and apts etc (yes, you'll need a big raise to maintain your standard of living), not so bad now that the dot bomb/tech marketplace is bleeding, but still VERY expensive. $300K will get you a crappy fixerupper bungalow in another town. Weather is nicer than further up the peninsula (San Francisco), but the whole vibe is very anaseptic/suburban. Plus, if you are thinking about working for a tech company DO YOUR HOMEWORK first. There are massive layoffs everywhere daily right now.

F you have to live like White Trash with 1/2 mill these days. Get ready to eat lots of Top Ramma if you move:D But then again the Economy has gone to hell in Cali, so it might be the right time to move here.

The whole San Francisco area is EXPENSIVE to live. Probably more so than Manhattan. Traffic is really bad also. Sunnyvale is pretty quiet but you are near San Francisco so if you get bored you can go into the city. There is a nice Gold's Gym in Sunnyvale and also a lot of 24 Hour Fitness gyms in the area.
