Might have a job there and would like to know if it is cool. This would be a major relocation for me and my family.

don't live in california, but i just have to say that after seeing the movie 8 mm this past weekend, your nickname disturbs me to no end

(hopefully thats not the effect you were going for? :) )

I worked there for a while and go back a few days a month. It is a very nice place to raise a family. If you are single, there is not a lot to do. However, it is very expensive.

Bull, what is it near? Is it in So. Cal? (I haven't had much time to research, just found out...)

Very expensive eh? Do they pay higher to offset cost of living?

Is it a large city, clubs, arts, entertainment, etc?

Sunnyvale is right outside San Fran. It is in the Silicon very hight tech. It is very beautiful near the mountains ect. There is plenty of tyhings to due, but more like the burbs than a metropolitan area. However, it is close enough to San Fran that you have access to anything you want.

I work in Fremont which is right across the South Bay from Sunnyvale.

Expensive expensive expensive.

People are not very friendly, the traffic is some of the worst in the nation.

Salaries are very high though. Lots of money to be made.

Lockheed is there, as well as Nasa Ames research.

Once again median home price is 5-600K for a small house and can get as high as a million for a tract home.

Mostly east Indian and Chinese people there.

So, living in the Midwest now. Own a home and two cars. Making less than 100k... would have to reduce the standard of living to move there?

What would 100k in the Midwest translate into there?

If houses are that high, probably would not be able to live in a house there eh?

About 30-40 thousand. Depending where in the midwest you likve.

It's on the peninsula between San Francisco and San Jose,
but much closer to San Jose/Cupertino.
Pluses: Great climate, never hot, never cold, beautiful forests, athletic people, abundant foreign restraunts
short drive from Pacific Ocean, Sant Cruz,San Francisco
medium drive North to Redwoods, East to mountains, South to Monterrey
one of the most beautiful places to live in the world!
Minuses: VERY expensive housing, one of the most expensive housing markets anywhere.
Ask for a 30% raise minimum.
You might consider going there for several years just to experience it, and not look at it as "forever".
