Anybody Ever Obese?

I was wondering has anybody on this board ever been obese. And lost alot of weight. If so what type of diet ntrainin plan did you use....im 315lb lookin for a good diet for the obese!!!!!
ANY INFO or LINK are COOL
 
i was in Krogers one day to check my BP and they had a machine that took your weight and calculated BMI... at 6 foot at 230ish i had a BMI of like 30 or 31...

it said i was obese. :rolleyes:




u could try a keto diet... look up CKD or TKD. i've done CKD before and it works wonders for me. it supposedly works best for people who have a LOT of weight to lose than it does for people who just wanna get rid of a few lbs. its kind of a pain the first 2-3 wks, but after that your energy shoots back up, you lose all cravings for carbs and the fat melts away.
 
I was 250 pounds, 33-38 percent bodyfat (I'm guessing) at 5'11. I didn't watch my diet at all until I got down to 175@ 15% bodyfat. just made sure not to binge on sweets or doritos and made sure to be very active (jogging at first, then aggressive inline when I lost about 20 pounds)

I was lucky enough to have a strong enough core (legs, glutes, back) to start jogging and rollerblading despite the fat.

I was about 6 foot 240lbs of fat, I am now about 175.
The first thing I did was cut out the fast food and junk foods, then added a little cardio and lifting and I was down to 210 before I knew it
 
I use to be an overweight kid. Was about 165 at 5'3 in grammar school. I grew a little taller and shot up to 175ish, then i joined the gym and lost 25 pounds right off the bat. I just recently hit 175 again, but this time of muscle not fat. :)
 
I used to be 300 lbs , I went down to 185 and then put on about 15 pounds of muscle.

I wouldn't recommend directly jumping into a CKD or TKD but I would recommend to *start* cutting down on the sugar and starch food products, totally cut out unnecessary sugars like soda and iced tea and such ( switch to diet ) that's the best first start, drinking more water and switching off any sugar loaded drinks. The carbs in one can of soda is almost twice my daily intake of carbs.

So that should start you off in the right direction. It's often very difficult to drop sugars completely, you have to do it gradually so you can follow the diet when you jump into it. Try to get into eating healthier carbs like oatmeal, brown rice and yams.

Diet doesn't do it all though, you need to exercise as well, if you are 315, I wouldn't be concerned about loosing muscle at this point. Start doing some cardio in the morning and evening. You need to get your body to use your body fat for fuel, which means you have to cut off the main fuel source which is carbs.


Once you get into the zone and are comfortable controlling your carbs and switching to healither foods you can start a more dedicated type diet like the CKD or TKD

I was. I was 245 in June, and I am now 165. The diet was probably not very good, though. Especially not for gaining any mass. But it worked really well for me for losing weight.

Let me know if you want the sort-of guidelines that I followed. But keep in mind that I'm no dietician.
 
As a kid I was very chubby - then ended up having anorexia - went down to 85 lb and almost ended up in the hospital. Because of that I hate to eat - but because of working out and bulking I do eat 6 meals a day. Thats why its so easy for me to eat clean all the time, because if it wasn't for weight lifting, I would be anorexic again. I do eat about 2000 cal/day but I never cheat and never have the urge to - some say good will power but for me - I hate food.
 
WOHHH,,,you guys are doing great.........its good to here that it can be done from those who'v been their just to let you know i started runnin last night hard but i felt good afterwards and even better in the mornin........cuttin down on those carbs......By the way Daernoth please send me the info on diet its cool yoou dont have to be:

Yo thanks for the info....i started my program and have went from 315lb to 310 in about 5 days....this is crazy i feel the goodness going on already with the runnin inthe mornin and low to no carbs.


does anybody have any before and after pics..im gonna get some soon...maybe it will help others....

ps i was wondering about starting a Support Group either on the board or in my area,,,,some are interested at the www.bodybuilding.com site. Fat loss section of the board...under HELP WITH OBESE TYPE DIET!...please let me know or dont know about this idea........IM OPEN TO IDEAS
 
ye i kno i was 185 @5'3 in 1summer i went down to about 100 pounds.i was 5'5 i 2 was anorexic. Iloved eating but not junk food all id eat was fruit (energy source) chicken.tuna anything high in protein low n fat. I dont drink anythign but water and mayb milk i only eat high protein snakes i make bars, I dont eat any chips! nojunk food whatso ever ieat 2000 cals a day i now weigh 127 and bench 210!! i get told ihave thebest will power any 1 has seen!!

i also ran 3 1/2 miles a day and worked out all the time! now i work out 3 days aweek! im on the crew team we row 10miles aday in 1 hr.

Hey Blade, you might try the Zig Zag diet as I find that I cut a good bit of weight in about 2 weeks or so. Its easy to follow since you get basically 2 days where you can somewhat binge eat and eat more than you are allowed during the regular week. The 2 "binge" days allow you to feel as if you are not on a diet for a short while and makes the other 5 stricter days easy.

I defintely went from 6'2" 250 down to about 203 pounds from December to May... I worked out about 5 days a week, with moderate cardio (couldn't even run a mile at first hardly), then got up to about runnign atleast 2-4 miles a day. Combine this with some Circuit Training, you should be aok in about 3 months, but just realize that I didn't lose any weight for the first couple week, so if it happens to you, dont give up.
 
I am obese right now. I weight 330lbs @6'5" I dont even want to know what my BMI is. I figure I need to loose 85-90 lbs. I'm guessing its going to take until July to get to where I need to be.
 
im obese....380lbs at 6 foot 19 years old diabetic...was 450..then got to 422...then i started atkins and in 3 months got to 380...havent ben under 400 since i was in the 9th grade lol... i m stallin right now and find out ways to get over the hump..but once u start its good..its gettin over the first weeks thats hard.
 
yeah man you can get over the hump have you posted a question on how to get pass the stalling stage.....their are some Guru's on this board that are sure to help you with your quest....

I grew up chubby. then got plain fat during my marriage that lasted 9 years. After the divorce I dropped from 190 to 155 in about 5 mo. I didn't eat much and lifted weights and ran three times a week. But I looked far from in shape, in fact one person I met asked if I had AIDS! Then I chilled for a while and got up to 168, ideal for my size/height. I Started lifting and training to gain size and got up to 195 with around 15%bf. I don't know why I quit, burned out maybe, but after a year I ended up 210 at like 25%bf. Been trying to get back into it and lose weight and tone back up, but it is a lot harder to eat right to lose weight but not muscle than it is to eat to bulk. But I am gonna get back to arouond 185 - 190 and drop this damn fat. After a month back into it I am 203 but its slow.
 
I used to be around 375..and yes, I'm female. God, that was a miserable fucking time. I lost about 200 pounds. It can be done.

top weight for me was 270, though no one believes me when I say I was. Now I'm shooting for 200 and under 10 percent bodyfat. (i'm 195 now at 6'feet)
 
I appluad all of your efforts! Amazing!!!! Keep up the great work and enjoy a healthier life style.
 
I'm 5-7 and used to weigh 230lbs a little more than a year ago. I started my weightloss by simply eating less and working out for hours (but not too hard), the results motivated me and dropped me from like 27% bodyfat to the 12% that im at right now. I didn't go CKD till recently, nor do i recommend it as it does require a bit of discipline and/or motivation and when i was large, i didn't have enough, so i just ate less. now that im looking at the results, im on CKD and its working great for me, the loss is slow, but my plan is to drop to 5-7% bodyfat in 8 more weeks, which is about 14lbs of fat lost in that timeframe. so far, my goals are inline, and although the toughest battles of the bulge are yet to come, im ready for them. I have pics on my profile that show some before/after shots, and as i lose weight i will update, maybe in a couple of weeks.
 
Yeah being obese sucks. I used to be obese as a kid. Now I don't look fat with clothes on but I am clearly fat without a shirt--built and relatively defined, but with love handles and a gut. I kinda look like a before pic for those MuscleTech ad guys... they're pretty big and kinda cut but they have guts and hence they are considered FAT PIGS. I've been tryin to lose this last 15lbs of blubber for like 5 years now.

I gotta do it now.
