I just got down to college and want to start mountain climbing or biking. theres tons of places to do it around here, i just dont know how expensive mountain climbing would be. I'm also kind of worried about how it will interfere wiht my training. any one have any input?

Well I am a road cyclist and have dabbled in mountain biking. If your training goal is to get as big as u fucking can then absolutely both will effect you. Have you ever seen a 200+ cyclist. You didn't mention how often or the duration of your rides or hikes but I'll go under the assumption that you would be going 1 hour + and 4 or more days a week. With that in mind u'd best be taking in at least 5000 calories a day to counteract what u'll be burning. I'd also suggest that you do your lifting a few hours prior to the hiking/rding. I can't personally can't lift for shit after I ride.

Mountain biking is a great cardio and leg workout. You don't need to stay small to be competitive like the guys who race. I use to ride a lot, all off road riding, did a 52 mile ride once. The best advice I can give you is to buy a good bike, spend at least 700 or 800 bucks on your bike, and make sure it has good front suspension. Trek has some nice bikes in that range, believe me, the quality components fot the extra money make all of the difference in the world.
