Any Type 2 Diabetics in the house??

I go in for testing on monday, but I am allmost certain that I am Type 2 diabetic. I have ALL of the symtoms but 1. I am not overweight. I'm overweight by the standard of those stupid little hight/weight charts - but c'mon - I'm a bodybuilder. I just came off a bulking cycle and my BF is at 11%. High, yes - but obese? Give me a break.

Here are my concerns:
If I am in fact Type 2 - I need to be on a carb restricted diet year round. How the fuck am I going to build new muscle on low carb!?

I am terrified that they will put me on some medicine that will cause me to get fat.

Are you Type 2 diabetic? If so - are you overweight? If not - how do you cope and what are your stats?

Thanks in advance!

amazon or barnes and nobles

I'd seriously go to amazon.com and pick up some books
on people just diagnosed with type II diabetes .. there are some good books on there .. a lady where I work was diagnosed with it
and she knew I was on low carb for my diet and asked what I ate.

She picked up two type II diabetic books, I was reading through them and it's actually quite fascinating stuff, you learn a lot about carbs do to your body even if you are not a type II diabetic.

usually if you are just diagnosed with it, if you reduce carbs for a while and stay on a low carb diet for a while, your body will actually start 'using' insulin again more efficiently.

Thanks for the reply. I have been reading a bunch on the web but all it has managed to do is scare the crap out of me. I went out and bought a glucose meter, and my blood sugar is all over the place. It was down to 54 just a little while ago. I just ate so I'll test it again in a bit...

I am not diabetic, but trust me, you can build muscle on little or no carbs. I went an entire year of less than 20 grams of carbs per day and most of that was fiber anyway. I still grew muscle. Everybody is different, but I think that most of the 'you got to eat tons of carbs to grow' works well for normally hard gainers with no blood sugar problems. All carbs do to me is screw me up.

If I were you I would eliminate all carbs except fibrous ones. Doing so may make it so you don't have to take any drugs for it, but of course that's up to your doc.

Be sure to post what you find out. Good luck.

im diabetic, i got up to 450 lbs at 6 foot... then i started exercise and i got down to 422..but stopped...so i got on atkins and got down to 380 and thats where im at now...for a good year i was in denile..said no that cant be im not diabetic. but its really not that biggest issue just take care of yourself is all u can do. and muscle building isnt the issue(u do gain muscle)... fat burnin is... ;) lol
