Any tips for solo board presses?

Does anyone have any tips for board pressing when lifting alone?

I've tried stuffing the boards under my shirt but they always seem to slide around between reps.

Maybe some type of velcro on my shirt and on the boards????

Any other ideas?

i board press alone too,

what i do is i take a mini band doubled up and wrap it around myself
on the back i usually have it on a height somewhat below my shoulderblades
then i sit down on the bench, lay the boards on my upper thighs, adjust the doubled mini band, wrap the band around the boards and am ready to go

you have to play around a little, maybe put the band even lower, because if the band is too high the boards tend to hit me on the chin when i arch before unracking

other than that the boards keep perfectly in place

guess you could use a light band too, i don't because when i double wrap it i've almost half a shoulder workout trying to get them over the boards, the minis work fine for me

hope i could help

make sure you set the safety pins in the rack. wouldn't be a good idea to get the weight stuck on yourself. why dont you just try asking someone to hold them on your chest while you do a set? you'd be amazed. most people will be more than happy to do it. granted they might ask you what the hell you are doing, but just explain it to them.

when i started in my basement, i took two old dress belts, for your pants, put them together and then belted the boards to myself. they wouldn't move around, but there was a couple times i did get stuck and had to yell for my ex-wife to come down and help me. there will be times you will be more fatigued then you realize and will fail. it would suck ass to have to roll some heavy ass weight onto your waist because you would not be able to control it. i guess you could dump it off one side but i've never seen anything really positive come out of that either

I lift alone in my home gym. I've got a power rack so I can go till failure and not get stuck (well I may be stuck but I bet I can slide off the bench without too much trouble).

chambewy20 and I rigged up a similar to koala's, but we took our mini-band and strapped it around the bench then choked it off one 50lb dumbell laying mid-bench on the floor. Much like you would choke off a band around a squat rack, etc. This leaves two 'straps' across the middle of the bench. You have to wiggle yourself under the straps, but at least you can put one strap at the lower portion of the board and one at the upper. Stays put that way. When done - rack the weight and slide the board out. All you have to do then is wiggle back out from under the straps. I hope that helps.

try duct taping it to the bar.....lol

I use a bungee cord. Works great. I also work in a power rack. It suck rolling the bar off your boards. But you gotta do waht you gotta do. I found them at auto parts stores for securing item in your trunk and I seen them at home depot.
