I have a co-worker who is 5'11' 230# (down from 320)

He got to 215 and blew his knees out from carrying so much weight. Now he has a fair to good diet but does not know what type of training he can do that will not endanger his knees.

Any suggestions??

I was operated from a meniscus injury myself 1 1/2 year ago, but now I'm back for good. I personally think my problem was that I didn't eat enough protein. Now I follow a diet and the problems have not reappered after that. I started with using the resistance of my bodyweight and following Ian King's limping program. Now I have gradually started doing "regular" excersises like squats and deadlifts. Actually my orthopedist reccomended me to start using these excersises. The moral must be to go easy in the beginning. Good luck with his recovery, I know what it takes!

Have him talk to an expert in dealing with those type of injuries. There's a lot of doctors who deal with athletes that recover from such injuries. You don't want to come back to fast.
