Any small business owners here?

i'm just curious how many small business owners are here.

what made you guys decide to start a business, and how much $$$ did you start with?

my buddy started a painting business a few years ago (all of our housemates worked for him during the summer...good times), and it really took off.

well, over the past year, he branched out into construction and is now doing the entire remodel of a local country club and buying a house (with some other investors) in Cherry Hill (very expensive area of colorado) to refurnish and flip.

small business scares me...it seems too easy to lose your shirt.

Yes, and now we are broke. We put a lot of money into it in the beginning, but you have to have a lot of money to coast on too. First year is killer. Make sure you are smart and get licensed and insured. CYA always!

If you want to get rich, a business is the way to go. I know many people who've opened up their own business and made good money.

Sure you could save and invest if you have a 9-5 job, but a business is how you get big money. Sure it's a gamble, but if you work hard and have a 'real' plan, it can be done. I'm sure luck plays a part in it as well. good luck. (lol)
