Any Restaurant Marketing Peeps on Here For Some Help?

I picked up a Italian Restaurant as a client and they are not getting the customers they want right now. I think it is just because august is soft month for high end restaurants with back to school and all. I have gave them some marketing ideas(first to lower their lunch prices) and other stuff but what the heck I thought maybe some restaurant entreprenuers could help with some ones I might not know.
 
I got a good slogan.

"Eat at (name of restaurant) lest you burn in Hell."

Seriously, wouldnt that get you to order some penne?

publicity of award winning cuisine is about all you can do if it's upscale... if they don't have good food, then a new chef and some publicity about said new chef. Restaurants kinda operate like bars. Owners often close, remod, and reopen under a new name/menu if business takes a dive. Pricing the menu intelligently is the most important thing. There is software to help take the guesswork out of menu economics.
 
Ask away, and ye shall recieve. Where is it located? What is their clientele like? Can I have a copy of the menu, if so, I may be of more help bro!

I would need to know more about what's going on but pricing down usually isn't a good thing if your upscale. People will pay for very good food with service to match. Have you actually eaten in this place? Does it look like it should be upscale? Is the menu any different from anyone else's? Is the food actually good? What the feel of the place? People like a place that seems to hop.
 
Lot of variables come into play. Look at all of them, and look how the "successful" ones in your city are doing it.

If the successful one is doing ads once a week in the paper, do ads in the paper once a week. If that successful one has a flashy outside decor, get a flashy outside decor. etc. etc. Analyze what makes them a success and implement/fix accordingly.
