Any recommendation on gloves???

Okay, so I've got to break down and buy another pair of gloves. My hands are really taking a beating and my grip is lagging behind. The last pair I had was leather and really padded. This time, I'd like to check out the neoprene style. I have relatively small hands, so the heavy padding makes it really hard for me to grip the bar. I'll be using them mainly for dead lifts, lat pull downs, etc.

Any recommendations are appreciated!:)

Hey Nonerz! I know what you mean...my gloves are by Harbinger, I've had them for like 3 yrs so I needed a new pair. I just got a new pair for Xmas by Valeo and they are specially designed to fit womens hands. I just used them for the first time yesterday and I highly recommend!

I've checked out the Valeo website...still not sold on them but I did see a nice pair of Harbinger's that caught my eye. I really would like something that isn't too padded and bulky. It's a bitch to keep my grip using the thicker bars. There is only one bar at the gym that I really like...it's not as thick and the threads feel good on my hands.

Product reviews anyone??

i dont use any because i think worn hands that look like barbecued mitts are part of a builders phyique.

i suppose its different for a woman tho

Nonerz, the Harbingers are less padded than the Valeos; you might like them.

You can probably try on different types of gloves at a sporting goods store near you.

yeah, my girlfriend cant have hands like mine. :)

thats my double standard.

her main concern is grip. (girls and their lotiony grip):D

<smack> ow! (see what i get?)

I use harbingers too -- the kind that are suppsed to be washable leather. Although they are startign to fall apart - I've had them about a year. I keep a couple pairs and rotate depending on what I'm doing. I've done that "wear 'em thru the grip but just keep wearin' em so I look hard core like the rest of the guys", but I don't really like cheese grater palms. I will note that I have fairly big hands so I can get away w/ men's gloves...

If you aren't planning to compete in Power Lifting, just use straps.

I know, I know, then you develop a weakness in your forearms. Actually, No, you don't.

You can work the muscles of the forearms in other ways & use the straps to deadlift so you can get the most out of your deads without letting the grip hinder how much you can do.

Do you really ever NEED to hold onto the weight that you can deadlift anyway??!! When I was training for Olympic Lifting, we used them, my coach recommended it. There was no need for us to hang on to heavy weights for any more than a second or 2.
