Any of you knuckleheads ever replaced a clutch?

What kind of car is it first of all? Some there's no adjustment some you adjust the cable... Hydrolic clucth can be a pain in the ass to bleed and you will need a vacuum pump... Kinda like the one pm uses to make his wee wee grow

An old Daewoo. Hydraulic clutch. Think I'm gonna just leave the old set in there and start installing the new transmission tonight.

I just pulled a transmission out of a car a few minutes ago b/c it had a busted differential gearset. The car has 88k miles on it, most of which I can't account for b/c we only just got it a year ago. Could be hard miles on the clutch, so right now I'm thinking about replacing it before we put the new transmission in.

Question is though, is it a finesse job? I've never done one before and don't want to try it if it requires some particular skill. I've heard of guys replacing their own clutch only to find the gears either won't engage at all or engage way too abruptly when they get the car back together.

So does it require some real finesse or just straightforward?

i did it a few times in the army one deuce and 1/2's... problem is once u put in the new clutch the tranny never lines back up again and its a bitch to get it to fit back with the new parts in there....

I just discovered that in a video I found on Youtube. The dude said he had a "trick" that made that easier, but I really couldn't follow his procedure. Something about leaving the passenger side half shaft in and rotating that then he lost me.

Ya hella easy most the time it does like up but if it doesn't jus turn the axle a lil and it will mesh together in pop in... Your going to deal with that wether you replace the clutch or not so mine as well... How much is a clutch set anyway 79.95?
