Well those square shaped ones and guys in those in spandex are a bit much. Mine is an Easport, its shaped flat like a Scottish pouch so its not noticeable even though its larger. Seriously though, its more comfortable than a back pack and it keeps pens, scissors all that crap in there, throw my pocketpcphone in there or ipod. I had to stay in motel while on call at one place so Id have extra hotel keys in there. Just convenient specially if you are into biking b/c you can walk out the door, walk into the gym and not have to go to the lockerroom to drop off a backpack.
Getting the right kind is key, I would never get the bright pink square ones like in the early nineties for a fashion statement.
This a dark blue pouch that I wear in the front or side. I use back packs too but this a pack that isnt on your back rather on your waist is pretty convenient
