Just started getting into my acoustic and have a guy who is helping me out. I'm looking for some cool songs that are easy to play with 3 or 4 chords and some easy changes. Anyone has any good ones feel free to post. But I only really know six chords so far and I'm practicing transitions.

So far it looks like pretty much anything by U2 is pretty easy to do the simple versions of.

acdc

sabbath

any 3 chord emo or nu metal rock in the past 10 years

easy acoustic? not sure. maybe gordon lightfoot or neil young or beatles stuff. or just concentrate on rhythm guitar for southern rock songs. that's what i did.

Tom Petty is easy acoustic rock. First songs I learned transitions on too. Easiest way is to make sure you can play each chord individually, and then put the song on and play along.

Polly by Nirvana is a good beginner tune.

If you want to learn to play well, learn a harder song. a 4 note chord progression can be learned by anybody that plays in about 30 minutes.

A good acoustic song to learn is "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton. Not exactly easy, but not terribly difficult. Print out the easy tabs online from any tab website and work on it. By the time you learn it, you will think that 4 chord songs are easy to play and learn.

I'm a drummer myself, but have taken guitar classes in school years ago. In fact I took those classes with my current bandmates. I find the 4 chord songs very simple to play.

Another more simple song to learn (you'll need a capo) is "What Hurts the Most" by Rascall Flatts. That's a pretty simple song actually, and chicks will love it.

yeah but he's gotta wait til his calluses build up and his fingers stretch before he can attempt any of that complex stuff.

Right now just concentrate on fingering chords and strumming. Use a metronome to practice your timing.

Yeah my fingertips are pretty numb after my two hours on the weekend and then again for an hour last night. How long do these stupid calluses take? Plus my hand position and muscle memory is going to take a long time to get down.

30 mins a night for 5 months is what I usually tell people.

After that, you can take on ozzy, skynyrd, zepellin, bb king, zz top and neil young riffs.

Oh, I failed to realize he is a fresh beginner.

still, "What Hurts the Most" is an easy song.

Melissa By the Allman Brothers. First song I learned on acoustic. I still play it all the time. Very nice song.
