I posted this on another thread as I didn't notice this thread.
A local rock station pulled off an amazing joke that fooled just about everyone. They set it up weeks ago so you had no idea it had anything to do with aprils fools. DJ's were getting death threats and everything before they told everyone a couple days early.
From their website:
The story in a nut shell...
3 1/2 weeks ago from date both The Fiasco and Buckethead started what will go down as one of the best April Fool's jokes of all time. Playing off of the ever so popular "sex tape" scandals in the news, Buckethead started the "joke" by saying that he had a "tape of sexual orientation" of a "local female personality." The Fiasco then picked up on the story and started discussing on the morning show. This then lead to some chatter among the JRR listeners. Taco Bob then announced one morning that the tape was of Launa. As stones were thrown back and forth between both shows, and the JRR listeners passionately emailed expressing their thoughts and feelings, the stage was set for the big showdown.
Questions came about like, "Buckethead why would you do this to your co-worker?" "Why not release it, Launa does Celebrity Slander on everyone else?" The set up was for you to believe that the tape was going to made public by Buckethead for "entertainment purposes" and without "malicious intent." He also used his contract as leverage. As Pat Lynch, the program director of JRR tried to stop BH he found that on March 30th he would have no luck come the 3 o'clock hour. The tape was posted and hundreds of thousands of people came to this site to view it only to find that it was an April Fool's joke.
Why was the joke revealed on March 30th? Well, because you, the JRR listener, is passionate about this radio station. An email expressing disgust with Buckethead was sent to the President of Clear Channel Communications. That then trickled down to the people here in Orlando. Then, all parties decided to let the cat out of the bag.
Now some might say, "man that sucks an email screwed up such a great April Fool's joke!" But just the opposite. This just means that the Real Rock 101-One, WJRR listeners are passionate. We are one family united by a radio station. Sappy, maybe, but the fact still remains, JRR ROCKS and is successful because of YOU!
On behalf of Buckethead and The Fiasco we appreciate the continued support and passion...
No one was hurt in the making of this April Fool's joke except for a few people who can't take a joke. To those few people we sincerely apologize and hope that you can get your life back on track.
