I'm looking into becoming a firefighter once I'm outta school. Was just looking for some basic info and what I should do to get into the profession. I want to work in a major city.

so it sounds like you wanna do structure...which in this day and age, pretty much means
you'll be a paramedic 85% of time, dealing with car crashes, injuries, etc...and 15%
of the time you'll actually be putting wet stuff on red stuff and or rescuing/extracting peeps.
pretty much all depts have integrated first responder/emt with fire...so keep that in mind.
pretty much manadatory to have your EMT basic to even get a look (as far as i know)...most
depts provide their own academys and that's where you'll get your structure 1 and 2, plus maybe some hazmat
shiat.
i do wildland with urban interface so our engine will have air packs

He said he wants to work in a big city, so he'll have to have his paramedic. The "firefighters" that work the beaches here (in SD) have the easy fuckin gig! Get to watch hot girls in bikinis all day too. And you know they all want to fuck firefighters. Rough!
