any bros having pool problems?

thanks

what about the impeller in the pump?

If the pump is whining the bearings are bad. Bearings are almost the cost of a new motor so buy a new motor. If the impeller wont move unscrew the volute its mostly likely clogged with leaves just unclog it. When the bearings go bad the shaft spins unevenly which will also cause the impeller to warp. So you may need a new impeller as well if its not a clog.

Yeah, my problem is I don't have one. Closest thing I have is a dirt ditch in my backyard that I dunk my head in after it rains. Thans for bringing it up ahole, if I ever come to your pool I'm gonna pee in it. J/K

Hey a hole with dirt in it is a lot cheaper than a pool.

The main causes of yellow algae is improper water balance. Make sure your PH and Alkalinity are in the ideal range. Also your sanitizer must be above 3.0 at all times whether it be chlorine or bromine. Brush your pool once a week and when it gets 85 plus degrees outside shock your pool once a week. Also run your pump at least 8 hours a day during the hottest part of the day. If that doesnt help use a preventative algaecide weekly and up your run time to 10-12 hrs a day. Keep in mind that when the ph and alkalinity are out of line it cuts the effectiveness of you chlorine.

good bro material right there

his Chlorine should be at Level 2.0
and PH level 7.0

test and adjust in the AM

a test kit it very cheap
he also needs to backwash once a week

the preventitive algeside works really well but is usually for emergencies

yes a clean filter will work wonders for your pool.

What's a decent price for a drain, acid wash, and refill? My pool has been black for like 6 months and I've been putting off spending the $$$ fixing it until it got hot again. I was told I'd need a submersible pump to get all of the debris out w/o fucking up my standard pump.

Well assuming its a white plaster pool ballpark price for an acid wash is somewhere between 300 and 400 dollars. Depending on how many gallons is in your pool it could cost between 300 and 500 dollars to refill it just because they have to drain it completely.(no charge for that except on your water bill) Easy way to fix that problem is run a hose from your neighbors spicket while theyre at work jk. Make sure the water index is low the day they drain it because if the ground below the pool is soft with water the shell of the pool will pop out of the ground and it will look like their is a ship hull floating in your backyard. Very bad NOT GOOD. No need to buy a sump pump just hire a reputable company theyll do it all for you.

Ok Thanks PoolGuy

What is the best way to get leaves out of the bottom of an inground pool?...i mean alot of leaves from last year. I closed the pool too late and a ton of leaves ended up in the fuckin thing. I tried to get as much as I could with the skimmer but the water was too dark to see the leaves.

Go to a local poolstore and buy a leafmaster. They will know what it is. It hooks up to your pole and a garden hose. The water from the hose shoots through jets and up into a leaf bag. Gobbles leaves up very effective tool to have on hand.

I need to replace the laterals in my filter too....$150 for laterals how much for install?

BTW great timing for this thread even if it has nothing to do with aas

K to you thepoolguy....I didn't forget you Omega!

Depends on the tech you get to come out. Im guessing ballpark between 85 and 125 dollars. When I used to do repair work I think we would do lateral replacements for $250 all said and done.

Is it hard to do it yourself?

Very much it is hard. You have to unattach the psi dome on the top of the filter. Then scoop all the sand out put in the new laterals then put in the new sand. It sounds easy but it is hard for sure.

Everytime I get estimates on my pool they always vary and it's really difficult to figure out who's price jacking me. Some guys say I need a whole new pump. Others say just a new vacuum. Also, in my city it's required to get a permit to drain ther pool-but I guess I could just do it at night when the pool nazis are asleep?

My PH keeps going crazy. i adjust it and then it goes too far the other way. I keep getting green water. i brush the pool, add the chemicals needed, and it just keeps going crazy. The filters are working fine, but the chemicals keep going nuts, and I am having to add more water every other day because it is evaporating like crazy.

chlorine level is the primary culprit for water discoloration

also be conservative when you add chems

less is more

You rock PoolGuy - here's my situation: 1 year old cartridge filter (I clean them every 2 months or so). Brand new pool vac. 1.5hp motor. PSI reads 30 when the pool runs but I have absolutley no suction - hardly enough to get a leaf to the basket. Is it possible for the motor to run weaker over time? Any ideas? :coffee:

Yeah, I've got a problem with my pool. My girlfriend caught me screwing another girl in it. What can I say, girls love pools

The motor will not run weaker over time unless you hear it whine then the bearings are going out. Flick the psi gauge with you finger it may be a bad gauge. Also when you put your filter tank back in place lubricate the tank o-ring with silicone lubricant. Check other areas for leaks. Check your valves and make sure they are all in the ON position. It could be one simple thing or a myriad of problems.

If you are having to add water every other day you have a leak somewhere. Fresh water coming out of the garden hose is not balanced thats why your ph and alkalinity are off all time which in turn is why you have algae. Stomp around in the backyard where your pipes may run and see if you can feel any wet spots. Get the leak fixed then balance the water treat the algae and add algae prevention.

Hey thanks! I just moved in here, and this is the first time I have owned a pool. I will look for the leak

Good Post bro....very relavant...I think I might do it for car troubles cuz im a mechanic and Id like to help everyone who helps me! They know AS I know EFI..lol.

Cool - thanks for the info. I'll try your suggestions and let you know how it goes. I know we're on here to talk gear, but this was a great post and obviously a help to many of us!! Thanks PoolGuy! Big K on your way! :coffee:

Hey poolguy, I have a 20 x 40 pool that I drained and has been sitting empty for approx. 2 years. I have a cracked pvc pipe under the pea gravel/concrete pool decking and I would also like to replaster it. Any ideas on what something like that should cost? Oh and is there such a thing as a maintenance free pool?

why in the HELL is this in the AS forum? why in the fuck is it remained here so damn long? this def does NOT belong here

LMAO @ this thread... great advice and knowledgable guy it seems, but in an AAS forum.... very odd to me :p

Ok, why not...

Poolguy: What's your favorite automatic cleaner and why? (and don't say manuel, because there is no time for that)

I have to agree it doesn't belong here but i got some good info from it...and i have to admit this thread's got some legs she keeps running

alright alright your right this post is in the wrong place. Just pm me and ill help out some good bros. sorry for posting in the aas forum.

Is there anything I can put in my pool to make it eat girls bikini's off slowly? Maybe an aciditic PH? Do you also field Pocket Pool questions? In case anyone might need assistance in that Dept? Love that Poolguy.... lol..

Pool = THe Clear - LOL

Since we are talking about it,

How do I get the calsium line off the water line. It is a pebbletech pool. The pumice store does not do the trick, becuase it can not get inbetween the pebbles. They want $400 to come clean it.

LOLOL this has alot to do with AAS

no shit...mods move all kinds of shit that is actually relevent, but this is damn near four pages......i even pm'd BRR and asked him about it, but no response......what a waste of space

my hot tub has been neglected of late. i only shock it when i say oh shit i keep forgetting. so it got some scum and i re-shocked it, which helped and it now looks clear, but i had to clean up scum on the walls with a cloth and could not quite reach everywhere. i did not feel like getting into it to do a better job.

questions: once scum appears what is my best bet to eradicate it? should i drain it and clean by hand? are there some super-chemicals i could apply, or is just re-shocking enough? also, if i do not use it in the summer, should i just drain it, turn off the power, and re-fill in the fall? thanks poolguy
