Another reason to aspirate

I have been using various AS on and off for 9 years. I guess finally the odds caught up with me. This morning I went to do my regular Wednesday inject of 3cc (2 deca 300, 1 Test cyp) in the right glute. Once the needle was in place I aspirated as usual and to my suprise not blood or air came out, but this yellow / brownish colored crap. I with drew the needle and sprayed the crap I drew into the sink. Well sure enough it appears for the first time I have an infection. The fluid appears to be puss... I called my doctor who promptly prescribed antibiotics, which I will begin at lunch. I believe as my doctor does that is was caught early enough that antibiotics will solve the problem.
Anyway moral of the story ASPIRATE. I know some on this and other boards have said they don't, well here is another reason to...
By the way for clarification, there was slight swelling in the area, no pain, and was not hot / warm to the touch yet...

***Please excuse my spelling on the header (aspirate), I should have proof read before posting...

Good info, bro, thanks for the heads up.

One thing I haven't found much info on in searches is how do you know you have an infection, or is it just a really painful knot? I've had some bumps that hurt like hell that almost had me on my way to the hospital, and then they were gone just over night.

question??

why would you inject in an area that has swelling??

I used to always aspirate but now if I feel no pain I don't.

just wondering...

Stupidity... The swelling was slight, not that unusual for me. I had given the site 1 week since the last inject and had just worked legs, so I figured it was due to other factors. Once again stupid, leason learned the hard way....

did you tell your doctor everything you told us in your post? Meaning, does he know you juice and give yourself injections?

Man you got lucky I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago. The infection was deep into the thigh, so I didn't notice anything until the pain became severe. I went to the ER, I had a goddam abcess the size of a baseball next to my thigh bone. They cut my leg open and drained it. Other than a nasty scar I fully recovered with antibotics. My doctor told me that if I had noticed it sooner, I probably would not have had to been cut. You should be fine but do a follow up with your Doctor.

My doctor only knows I use GH (I had to tell him this in order to get a prescription for Bacteriostatic Water). I am sure he assumes the rest... I told him this am that I was in the process of a deep 1 1/2" intramuscular injection and aspirated. Upon aspiration there was a fluid as I described above. He chose not to ask any more questions, and agreed that I it sounded like an infection, and prescribed the antibiotics.

You have a cool Doc.:D

I agree, and I have only met him once. Most of my contact with him has been over the phone or through his advice nurse... I have only had this doc for a couple of months, you know the HMO crap. They change on me every now and again... Hopefully Ill keep this one for a while..

you SHOULD always aspirate... pain or not, its not a question of pain...
YUM

Man alive, these posts can be frightening! What about the last injection of a cycle? How you gonna catch it then before it's too late in such a situation? Huh?
