Advanced account privileges exist to grant users the ability to execute commands as the system's super user, also known as root or admin. Actions performed using normal user accounts are restricted by many safeguards designed to protect both the system and its users from accidents or malice. Commands executed with advanced account privileges are not restricted by these safeguards. Misuse of advanced account privileges can easily open security holes, destroy company data, invade the privacy of others, interrupt critical services and worse. This agreement exists to make you aware of these issues, and to confirm your willingness to use this type of access properly, ethically, and in the interests of EF.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND SECURITY:
Only I will know my password
I will not write my password down nor use it in auto-login scripts
My password will meet security requirements as specified by digger
If my password is compromised or I suspect it to be, I will change it immediately
I will not allow others to use my account
If my password is cracked by the internal security sweep, it will be disabled without warning.
I understand that all server tool commands are logged
I will not attempt to bypass the security logging measures
ACCIDENTS AND OVERSIGHTS:
If I impair, cripple, or down a host, I will notify digger immediately
I am prepared to provide a detailed report of my actions should unintended consequences result
At digger's request, I will make myself available in repairing damage I cause
A crippled or damaged host may be re-installed with a standard system images; customizations and changes will be lost
Customizations to any system may be overwritten either hourly or daily by digger. If I need permanent configuration changes I will notify digger
I will not make changes to any host's operating system, hardware, network configuration or physical location unless advanced access was granted specifically for this purpose
If I need something done that falls outside of the range of activities for which my authorization was granted, I will contact the system administrator for my group or business unit for assistance, or call digger for help.
On hosts running SunOS or Solaris, I will use reboot, halt, or init commands -- never shutdown.
ETHICS:
I will not modify or remove the access rights of others
I will not remove default shares unless instructed to by an Administrator
If my job duties change and no longer justify advanced priveleges I will notify digger
I will notify digger if I go on a leave of absence (3 or more months)
I will use this form to request additional privileges as needed
I will not attempt to create or change user's login accounts, passwords, access rights, groups, directory location, or any other user information, unless I am an employee in the Information Technology department and trained to do so.
I will not view, copy, modify or delete files, directories, or e-mail without explicit permission from the owner.
I will contact digger if I have ANY questions regarding the use of advanced account privileges or related topics, before proceeding.
