Becareful! Alot of fake emails have been circulating with scammers after your credit card information.
I received several yesterday and contacted Paypal.

true. I get all sorts of shit from fake Paypal, fake PostBank, fake DeutscheBank... funniest thing is that they don't even check if you are a member or not (my bank is the Citi)... since most Germans bank with those 2, they simply send them to everybody hoping some dumb ass will fall...

I've never had them ask for CC info when I contacted another member and I've done it quite a few times ...

Are you trying to contact someone other than the person you bought the game system from ?
no im asking questions of someone that i was interested in buying a game from
but they asked me for my cc number and shit to verify myself and im like wtf? isnt that what paypal is for?
it seems a bit schemy to me IMO

When you get feedback from the seller of the game you won. You won't have that problem. Ebay system sees you as newbie. Therefore it won't let you contact others yet. Only the person you bought from. If you tried to contact them you wouldn't have that problem.

The reason it does that. Is that scammers seek out people who are interest in items. And offers the same item off of ebay which really is just a scam. 99.9% of the time people doing that are not legitimate ebayers with feedback. The system can't tell the difference. A BIG pain in the ass. But like I said once you get your first feedback. You won't have that problem.

They didn't ask anything like that of me, but I've been shopping on Ebay forever so they may have changed the rules.

Oh, hell no.

They do that because a scammer will not give them a way to find them. With a cc number they can find you. Unless it's stolen.

If you gotten feedback it won't ask you. Only if you have zero feedback.

Are you verified through paypal? Getting verified is easy. Paypal will deposit a couple of cents in your checking account and you have to find out how much they deposited and when they deposited it and then relay that information to Paypal. After that, you shouldn't have any problems and sellers love to deal with verified paypal customers.

There is a lot of scamming going on on eBay and they seem to be revamping how things are done there and trying to weed out the scammers which is impossible.

I know a lot of sellers are being asked real personal information to verify who they are and some sellers are leaving eBay for that reason.

I have never been asked for my credit card number though and I would not provide that sensitive info for anyone.

Anytime you contact an eBay member always use the links eBay provides you to contact them. Even if you get an email from the seller and they did not go through Ebay to contact you, I would ask them to contact you through eBay's email system for security purposes. They shouldn't mind doing that.

One of the scams on eBay right now is scammers are contacting members for "second chance offers". Which they will say the winner did not want the item and they are offering it to you for your final bid and they ask you send the money by wire to another country. Don't fall for it.

Some sellers have more than one item of the same thing and they will contact losing bidders(if their bid is high enough) and sell them the item and that is legitimate as long as they make a "Buy It Now" auction that should run for about 24-48 hours that is only accessible by you.

Just remember, always go through eBay when contacting anyone on eBay. If you have an email in your regular email, there should be a copy in your eBay account. Just go to "My Ebay" at the top of any eBay page and sign in. If the email is not in there under "messages" then be very careful on how you respond.
