Anorexia experience

Any bro's out here have girlfriends/wifes who have suffered from anorexia? My gf has struggled with it for four years and will finallt be getting the proper treatment. She made the statement to me that my fanatical ways with lifting/dieting only made it harder for her to put on weight. I explained to her that I am working towards a goal, as she should too. I enjoy food to the fullest and deprive myself of what I love to reach my goal. If anything I thought it should be inspiration to her working towards getting better. Please let me know if anyone has a similar experience.

Hey Bro,

Your girlfriend is right, if you want to IM me. Go ahead I have alot of experience in this area.

This is difficult. The real difference is that anorexia has unhealthy limits, while bodybuilding can be healthy with no unhealthy physical or mental limits.

You could tell her that you understand her perfectionism to a small extent because of your training and desire to build a stronger and larger lean body. She might feel more supported that way.

My sister was dangerously anorexic and ended up in the hospital for several days. I was too young to learn much from it. Later, I had a girlfriend who was obsessed with being slim... beyond what's common. There's really not much you can do to help her --- she needs to help herself. Don't let her blame you like that.

She's not blaming me, she had it before she met me, I even offered to quit training for her and gain weight with her but she wouldnt have that. She is not obsessed with being slim but can't eat what she needs to, she get's real nervous. She has OCD and just feels she needs to be in control. She is going to cali this summer for an intense 6 week exclusive program, keeping my fingers crossed.

The sad part is that my girl is really all ribs. It's to the point where I get nervous about when we go out because if she wears a sleeveless top people gawk at her. She is a beatiful girl but you can't not notice how incredibly thin she is. I fear that if she does not get better from this facility, we cannot stay together. We are entering a whole different realm of our life with graduating from college and I have delt with it for almost 3 years, I can't have added stress in my life with all the other things that will be goin on.
