Have you read some of her books?

Is so are they any good?
And where can I start? (looks like there are recurrent characters and I'm not sure I can pick any volume of her chronicles w/o reading the previous ones)

start with interview with the vampire, first of the vampire chronicles, then read the reat in order.

interview with the vampire
the vampire lestat
Queen of the damned
tale of the body thief
Memnoch the Devil

Memnoch is my favorite, you could probably read it on it's own without reading the rest. You'll definately be lost on references to past characters and events, but non the less I think it's story can stand on its own.

her erotica books are good too, I have the Sleeping beauty trilogy and a few others, but not for those that get grossed out at gay crap, lots of it in those books.

If people can tolerate your icon of the very gay Divine (who ate poodle shit in "Pink Flamingos"), they can tolerate Sleeping Beauty.

Hmmm, well, they should know she's the filthiest person alive.

""Advocate cannabalism! Condone first degree murder! Eat shit! Filth is my politics, filth is my life!" "

the witching hour series is by far the best
ignore these half ass fans like sorearms and lestat who got turned on by
brad pitt in "Interview" and now think they are Ann Rice experts. off with their lousy heads!!!

fuck that shit dude, I was into the books long before the movie.

Interviwe with a Vampire is not the best book in the series.. not even close, but its still the place you start when delving in.

read it, or you will die

I've been more into non fiction lately.

My next book on the list is into the WIld..

did you see Grizzly man yet? There is an Into the Wild reference in it.

i've read about lance craighead...sounds really interesting. those type of flicks don't usually make it up to where i live, I got to catch the dvd.
You've never read "into the wild?" i figured you would have. good read, minus the author going off tangent fucking big time, which we'll discuss after you've read it...

I just ordered it on half.com

we'll have a book discussion after I am done.

Lance craighead? Its timothy treadwell that is the subject of Grizzly man.

Excellent movie, the direction on it is fantastic and the footage of the bears in the wild and the interaction with Treadwell is amazing.

DVD is ok, but if you can see it on the big screen, do it, I've seen it twice already. Its playing here at two theaters within 10 miles of each other!

yeap, you are all set with this. Then you can add Pandora, Blackwood Farm. The Witching Hour books are awsome. I loved them

"interview" and "vampire lestat" are, IMHO, the best 2 of the vampire series. rive got kinda strange after these 2. still readable, but harder to follow.

her Mayfair family ("in the midnight hour" is the best of the group) series is more readable to most people. excellent character development, modern world issues....rice nailed new orleans in the late 80's to perfection. i personally identily with the micheal character.

"the tale of the body thief" is an awesome, stand alone read. i would recommend this book alone to see if you like her style of writing and characters.

The Vampire lestat is my favorite.. hence the username.

lestat is one of my favorite characters, by rice or any other character.

and micheal and rowan in the mayfair family series.

and david talbot.

i tossed a couple of the mayfair family series novels in my evacuation suitcases. ann gave me great comfort in the past couple of uncertain weeks. when the wrold seemed to be going to shit all around me, reading her words kept my sanity intact.

like i said a few posts back, the witching hour series is the best...I lover her descriptions of NO. The Oncle Julien character was my favorite.
I would tag rowan btw

i may check out the witching hour series sometime.. if I ever get back into fiction.
