True story.
I'm in college, 1995-1996 school year but I don't remember the exact month.
Andy Dick is booked to do a comedy gig at my college, its free to see, paid for by student body funds.
I'm not involved at all in the production, but I showed up to watch because a friend of mine said he was funny, I had no clue who this dude was.
He gets on stage and looks drunk/high or both, he's not very funny, he's saying all kinds of bad things about the colllege how its too preppy, lots of asians, etc. He's dropping F-bombs every other word.
he gets pulled off stage and told his services are done! (he got paid of course).
So my buddy rolls to the side of the stage and catches him before he leaves, he was just standing around with one other guy who he seemed to know and didn't look like a college student.
my friend says what's up, and andy dick says something like 'hey bro do you know where we can get any yayo?' my friend is clueless! history major, doesn't drink much, no weed, no blow, nothing... I said "Pacific Beach!" I had no clue really but I knew that was a party part of town.
So we roll out in my friend's car, a small old school corolla. Andy and his buddy in the back seat and the break out a huge sack of weed! I wasn't into weed at all then and was nervous but we weren't about to tell them no. They are back there blazing like no tomorrow. We roll to Pacific Beach which is where there are tons of bars, smoke shops, etc. But once there we don't know what to do, Andy is clueless and sorta irritable, he thought we were going to a house to make a connect. We get out for a bit, its weird because NO ONE recognized him. Also, I thought he was gay for sure the way he spoke and his mannerisms.
We get back in the car and drive somewhere else with no real goal. Andy is trying to show off and says he can call howard stern, that he has his personal number. I said I was a huge fan so he calls but it goes to his machine/voicemail which he let me hear but I couldn't see the number and I didn't speak on the message, Andy left a near incoherant message about how San diego sucks.
Interesting night for sure but I wasn't impressed at all by Andy, he seems to not really give a fuck and was just using us for the ride.
