Andro Patches???

I'm not taking these, or any other type of steroid right now, but I was wondering. Someone I know was prescribed steroids due to his naturally low test levels. At first he was taking injectables, but now he gets these prescribed andro patches. Just wondering if this stuff is legit or not?

they're legit as far as replacement therapy goes but I don't think they carry enough test to be effective for our needs.....that is if you're not wearing like 10 at once.....

I used the patch and thought it sucked. You needed at least 2 to feel anything at all. AndroGel kicks its ass. Besides, who wants to walk around with a stupid patch on ?

i agree bro, my buddy looked like a mummy because he had every patch on at once that his doce gave him.......he said it helped a little bit...

Miricle Man: I assume you have not used AndroGel for HRT or you wouldn't be saying it's "worthless." It's actually superior to presecribed IM dosages, but certainly less convenient.

I agree w/ Nelson. Tried the patch, it sucked. Plus, it's only 5 mg! Haven't tried the Androgel, but patients who have been on IM test tell me it works quite well, and their test blood levels attest to this.

Yeah, I had a feeling that the patches would do it's job as far as raising his test levels, but wouldn't satisfy a weightlifter's needs

I'm with Miracle Man on this one. I took Androgel for 4 months & it did absolutely nothing for me. Felt like a complete waste of money imo. Did 1 5mg pack a day & my libido was still in the shitter. Was so pissed off with the results that I asked the doc to go back to Viagra since he wouldn't give me both. Bad thing about it was that my health insurance covered a nice portion of the gel. Viagra was full price. I'd much rather have spent that $35 per month on the real stuff.

sounds likje your Doc has a paternalistic/God complex. I'm not a doctor, but my extensive readings on these 2 wouldn't indicate any drug interaction. time to change docs.

I'm in the same boat. My test levels are in the toilet but I haven't sat down with the doc to discuss what type of HRT to do.

What's the pro/cons with AndroGel vs IM shots?

And I'm asking not from the perspective of someone trying to gain some lbs, I'm asking this 'cause I'll be on the shit for the rest of my life!

A "Real" reason Androgel is Bad

I came across this post while searching for something else, but it is a published case of the testosterone in androgel causing serious problems for children of those using it.

http://www.cuttingedgemuscle.com/Forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3293

The case above is for a male child.

I was also talking to a Nurse in January while her daughter and I were waiting to get blood drawn, and her daughter had serious problems because her husband was using it. She implied that the mfgr said that all of the test will be absorbed within 15 minutes or so, which is not true... Her daughter (I'd say just about 2) ended up with severe enlargement of the clitoris, and her test/est ratios were reversed. They had to do all sorts of tests including a biopsy (I believe ovarian, but could have been uterine) and one surgery before they found out what the problem really was.

So, if you have any children, or a woman in your life, stay the heck away from that stuff.

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!

Talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water. If you don't want to risk getting it on a female, just put it in an out of the way place like upper buttocks or maybe hamstring area. might even be absorbable from calf muscle if same as transdermal prohormones (i think delivery vehicle is same).

Well, it will cause a problem with children of either sex, and the stuff is not 100% absorbed, yeah, sleeping and having sex fully clothed with rubber gloves on should keep it away from the wife/girlfriend too. Also, FYI, the woman's husband at the Dr's office just put it on his chest, always washed his hands (he's married to a nurse, I'm sure she made him :)).

Why expose them to the risk if it is cheaper and you can actually control the dose with an IM injection???

Do you have young children BTW? I don't think most parents would risk it if there was an easy alternative. Also, this study was in Jan, which is also when I talked to the Nurse, and it was unheard of before, so I'm sure there are/will be many more problems out there.

Yup Androgel by SOlvay Pharma and Androderm by Pharmascience. Both legit but people aren't very enthusitic about it.
