Couple of things...
One Earth day is not exactly 24 hours:
It is not 23hrs 56min and 4 sec, which is why we have things such as leap minutes and bisextile years...
The word Elohim:
Is in fact a plural hebrew world. But from what I remember it is a first person plural hence, we and us. The reason I mention this is that nowhere in the Torah is God referred to in the third person plural (they or them) only third person singular (usually translated as He, but that may be because the the anciet translators were all men, Correct me if I am wrong), so to the rest of the Universe God is a singular character whose persona is so great it can only be captured by referring to him/herself in the plural.
