And the hits just keep on coming!

So my tax preparer calls last night...says, hey, how come your property tax hasn't been paid?

I said, well, that's funny, I thought the mortgage company took care of that. He said they should, but with your refinance, it looks like the old mortgage company didn't pay it, and the new one doesn't show making a payment til this year. Call the county, and see what they say.

I called the county this morning, taxes were billed to me, which I don't remember seeing, but not paid. I've started the process with the new mortgage company to see if they'll pay the bill for this year, but I don't have a lot of hope.

There's $1200 that I somehow have to magic out of my ass. Wonderful. And I lose the deduction for this year.

So....looking for work, transportation issues, going to court for a speeding ticket, and now this.

Life's a fucking peach.

Sorry to hear about this... it will come to pass.

A lot of people are looking for work now, what kind of work do you do?

IT work. I'm basically an IS manager, with a support background.

I've got until June 1 before my current job ends, so I'm doing my best to get something lined up before then.

Project - it sounds like one of the two mortgage companies should be responsible? The clowns have your escrow money and that's what it is supposed to be used for...

Well, that's what I thought, and went through that in some detail with my preparer last night. The original mortgage company refunded the balance of my escrow account to me, which was not $1200, and the new mortgage company didn't account for payment of property tax until 2003.

I'm going to call the original mortgage company, just to make sure.

Dude, I know exactly what you are going through! Keep your chin up. Have Spatts give you a lapdance.

Again I feel your pain young brutha. Everyone said my first year of owning a home = big fat tax return. Long story short, I had to fucking pay!! Can't wait for the next surprise.

Okay...final piece to the story.

I talked to both mortgage companies, and the long and short of it is, I'm SOL. The original mortgage company paid my insurance premium in September, and refunded the balance to me, which was about $800.

The refi company did not withhold funds to pay the property tax, so I'm on the hook to pay it.

Wish someone would have mentioned this to me, but on the flipside, I didn't think to ask about it either.

I hear ya bro, seems like everyone is getting fucked now a days. Keep on truckin'. About work. I understand. with the impeding war, not too many hotels are contracting the company I work for to take care of their marble. things are getting tight

I'll e-mail you an addy. :)

danielson, I have to pay property tax on my house, which is ordinarily handled by an escrow account, where a portion of my monthly house payment is set aside to pay for insurance and tax. In this instance, I didn't know that I was going to have to cover the expense, and it was just the latest in a string of unfortunate events.

I'm beginning to think my life is a sitcom, and I can't hear the laughtrack.
