well while your on, nothing seems to work at keeping HDL levels up. At least not for me. But to help, and for recovery afterwards :
policosanol
noflush niacin (actually inositol hexanicotinate)
psyllium seed husk (high fiber)
olive oil/walnuts/omega-3s
walk/jog 3 or more times a week
that should get you back to ur normal levels of HDL within a month or so.
While on, (and off as well) use Kyolic cardiovascular formula Garlic tabs with each meal and b4 bed. Studies show it acts as a substitute Super-HDL, flushing away ldl and preventing plaque accumulation same as HDL would.
Search on my handle and (hdl or cholesterol or lipids) for lots of good stuiff on this topic from a year or 2 ago.
