An Instructional Video I Made Today

Err, it's ok... Better than the bodybuilding.com things and such, but if a real coach comes and tears this apart, don't tell say I didn't warn you :)

I go through a mini warmup (usually I just do whatever I want to get warm - know your body), do a few powercleans (I suck at these so...), show a basic exercise for learning how to catch a full clean, and do a Sotts press.

Yes, in the past few days I've had trouble speaking clearly. The words just don't come!

Shit I just watched it. Okay, forgive me my power cleans were very slow. I'm supposed to rack it at the same time I plant my feet, ideally.

good stuff... i can not really say anything about any form questions. I am going to have to try thoes 'drop cleans' (which also reminds me of drop snatchs that i wanted to give a try) or whatever you called them.

Thanks for taking the time SR. I'm gonna try the dive under the bar thing again tomorrow.

Good stuff.

(and you stoled my workout music  )

I posted this for the reason of trying to introduce as many people as possible to these lifts. IMO, learn the full clean first, then learn the power clean. If you learn the full lift, you won't pick up any bad habits from cheating in PCs, will have better control of the bar, better timing, know how to use a the spring, etc. If you learn a PC first you will have to learn that stuff from the ground up, whereas to learn the power version afterward, you just have to pull higher and go in faster/tighter.

The "seated" (funny how squatting down is seated :)) presses develop the muscles of the upper back (traps, rhomboids), and muscles surrounding the shoulder girdle. This, from the school of thought were I train at least, is crucial to learning and developing the lifts, as these muscle groups must be depended on to maintain position while pulling and to catch the weights.

Cool vid!

I've never seen the "seated" (squating down) BTN presses before...

What's the olympic purpose of it?... to train for Pushpresses?
