An ecto w/o vascularity

Before people start calling me a lard ass, let me assure you: I am not. I had my BMI taken 6 weeks ago and I was 9.9%bf. I am probably closer to 9% now. I am tall, lean and muscular, but not huge. I take gear, I eat better than most but I am not that vascular! At least, I feel i should be more. I have decent veins that pop on my bis and a few on forearms, but not on the tops of forearms. Not in the shoulders or chest. You can barely see any in my legs/calves. Is it genetic or what? DO i just have deeper veins that most? Thick skin? I wonder because I have friends that barely even workout and walking around they have really rope-y looking arms. Drives me nuts! Any insight in to why this is? Its not a huge deal to me or my image, but I just wonder where my veins are? They should really pop but they do not.

I'm guessing that you'll see better vascularity when you get down around 6-7%. It's not that big of difference weight wise I know, but that seems to be the magic bf level for veins for me personally. I think I'm kinda in the same boat as you, tall, reasonably lean, but not that vascular. When I got cut up for my contest last year I had the best vascularity I'd had in many many years. I was doing a keto diet (which means less water retention, which is also important!) and got down around 7% or thereabouts, maybe a bit less. The funny thing is that now after I'm bulked up (by 30 lbs vs contest day)I still have some of those "new" veins, though not nearly as much. I had veins showing in my lower abs, through my chest and shoulders, nothing crazy, but very good for me!
