Just bought one for the wifie's birthday. Her favorite past time is reading.

Anyone have one our used one?

I dig regular books as well but the ability to readily download the NY Times best sellers list has a lot of appeal. Especially when you are away on vacation and just finished a book or accidently left your on the plane (yeah, I have done that several times).

Does this e-book reader show pictures or equations easily? That's always been my biggest concern, as I don't really care for Oprah's hotlist crap.

:cow:

I think it's black and white, correct?

Also, I've heard mixed reviews about the readability of the screen. I got really close to buying one just a few months ago.

it looks awesome. i read a LOT, but my only concern is that I usually take books from the library. if the ebooks were cheaper, i would go for it, but they are something like $10 a piece and I read a book a week. Not that it's so much, but i'd rather just go to the library.

Ill be troubleshooting those suckers soon.... they look like an etch a sketch...

I don't know about that. I gave one to my daughter for xmas last year. They were sold out and upgraded her to a newer model in January. She loves it, takes it everywhere. The screen is clear and easy to read.

Im interested in more e-book opinions
I was checking this thing out online after this thread was started...i like the idea

Like lettoI used to burn through a book a week roughly.
BUT I suck with the returning them to the library, plus the local library has the worst selection Ive ever seen and the school library is more academic reading and less enjoyment reading...
so I pretty much never use the library.

when I got divorced I had to throw away a pickup bed full of first edition hardcovers...they all got wet in storage :( I had only read about half of em too

6 more days until her birthday. I will give you a full report.

ok.. made her open this early so I would have time to find something else in case this did not go over.

I am in the clear. She loves it. Already downloaded books and was reading on it in bed last night.

My only complaint is it does not have a backlight. I guess they do that so you can have a long battery life.

Everyone go ahead and start ordering yours for Christmass. It's a winner.
