Amazing Training Weekend. Bench 400lbs! (shirted)

mm107

High End Bro
Platinum
I HIT 4 BLUE PLATES EACH SIDE (KG) WHICH IS 396 + COLLARS which makes it 400lbs!

it was amazing, felt great and actually went up smooth that i took a shot at 410lbs.

We were doing band training....Where we hung bands up to the top of the rack and hung the bar. At the bottom, the bands took 60lbs OFF the bar. We worked up to tripples w/o a shirt. Then got set up in the shirt.

Now the shirt im wearing is TIGHT. 42inch chest. with a 42" shirt now. But obviously it worked =]. It is a single Ply Rage X.

So we worked up to 4 blue plates a side (396)...with the band still on it. So on the chest the weight was 336ish. It went up clean.

Then my buddy and I were going at it to see who had the bigger bench now (as he was always the bigg bencher). So the competition and adrenaline was great.

So i got set up.

Tucked my shoulders Back and now Down to lock them in place. I never locked them Down before today, only back.....

Legs tucked literally squeezing the bench.

Wrapped wrists nice and tight while squeezing the bar

Set up BIG arch.

The weight did feel heavy in my hands, but as i lowered it the pressure from the shirt took away any pain in my hands. I touched and the pressed it at the "press" command my spotter yelled.

400 was mine.

Now as i sit here at work i realized how tight i was on that bench. I had everything in good form, and i need to do this all the time.

dumped 410 =]

ALSO OUTPULLED MY COACH IN SQUAT PARTIALS ON SATURDAY 836LBS FROM LITTLE ABOVE THE KNEES! GOT A VID OF THIS =]

Wow, you're quickly turning a (relative) weakness into a strength. You should be unstoppable at your next comp.

Thanks man! Ive been really focusing on my weakness on the bench. My shoulders were lacking BIG TIME, and i got them up to par(or better then they were) via BTN Presses/Face Pulls/Etc....

I was amazed i hit it CS, i dumped 370 a week prior in a dbl ply.

It was such an amazing thing to hold 400 in the locked position knowing i just crushed my last Pr.

=]

I hope to total 1600 soon =]
650 squat
400 bench
550 pull
@ 198

1600 = Top 100 PL'ers in USA. (#96-97)

Thats my goal for 2007. I will be crushing untill i do.

that's amazing. I'm also amzed at how much more your squat is than dead!

Its the suit on that one, the squat suit give me A TON more support then in the deadlift.

the deadlift basically gets 20lbs from my suit....

thats why =]

All the way baby.

Im going to really use KTS and get a team started one day....everyone i lift with says KTS, but i think they are fuckin with me lol

(but too bad, because we gave my coach a jacket, with his name on it, and team KTS on the bottom lol)

Nice job!! thought you would have been at 500 by now but... hey, progress is progress right? j/k!! excellent numbers i'm trying to get to 1600 too but i'm just starting out, we'll see what happens.

Keep Aiming High!!!!

That is just sick! Top 100 in the USA would be amazing. How much does the shirt and everything else help? If I can bench around 375 lbs. raw, could I get close the 400 lbs. wrapped and in a shirt?? Nice work!!

FFQuads, im actually going for a 1600 total, which makes the top 100 which is great. I also hit a 580lbs squat last competition @ 181 so i made the top 100 for that as well.

If you can bench 375 raw, then 475 is a huge possibility, as well as 500!

The shirt basically, as you lower the bar to the chest it gets tight, so tight that some weight wont even touch in a shirt. Then when you finally get it to touch (which is the hard part), the press has a ton of pop off the chest due to the shirt tension, but once the arms are mid way, there is no more support really, so you need to have strong ass triceps and lockout power.

But, alot of people also think, if lets say you FFquads, bench 375. First time in a shirt you might dump 375. The shirt puts you in such a groove with your elbows tucked and everything tight. It takes a while to finally learn the groove of the shirt. And like i said, the battle is getting the weight to touch, not the press most of the time.

Also, the bench shirts can add 75-150 lbs to a bench, when you use it correctly. You also have to endure the excruciating pressure in your face/head. If you looked at my body, you will see huge lashes and bruises around my arms/chest. This is from the shirt squeezing my skin.

But since im learning still how to use a shirt, my numbers(i hope) can only get better.
