Am I too fat to think about bulking or even a cycle?

Just a quick summary I am a 35 year old man started off at 350lbs now down to about 202lbs.

I am torn as to what to do I have a load of excess skin(you will see in the pics) that will need a tummy tuck doc has just referred me(fingers crossed) With every pound I lose it gets worse.I realise I am still "fat" esp around the lower back and sides of chest but lean was never my goal at the start,I just want to be a big solid bloke with huge arms shoulders chest and a vaguely normal size waist, more like a typical meathead than a bodybuilder. At the moment I am neither lean, muscular, slim,or obese I kind of fit no description I feel in no mans land

What would be the problem with trying to add some mass from where I am now my waist is now around 36" and I am happy with that kind of fatness but I would be happier to have a shitload more mass(some of the before pics in some of the transformations would satisfy me)

I see a lot of fat blokes that seem to have huge size and depth that I just dont, all the weight lifting i have done has been while dieting so I have never actually tried to put muscle on as such will I just balloon up to the fat guy from before or can I acheive some considerable size without being fatter.

At the gym I use it seems 90% of the people their are on AAS and a few people have mentioned running a basic test cycle to add some size then worry about more cutting later.Could a cycle help me at my stage I am new to all this but at 35 I would like one shot at being the kind of big guy I see in my head,I dont expect to be ripped ever or even look that good to most but I would like to be huge in the right places

Below are a couple of pics of when I started and now dont be too harsh I still have a lot of fat to lose but the loose skin makes me look fatter than I am I think, what bodyfat would you say I am at the minute I have no idea

Sorry the post is a bit long

Hi and welcome to EF!

I love your candor (sp)& honesty. GooD for you bro!! That must have taken a huge amount of commitment on your part to lose all that weight! Very inspiring indeed!

Our of Curiousity would you mind giving us a few more details?

Height:
General Health now that you've lost the weight.
Years or Months lifting?

Would you say you've trained fairly hard for the last 6 months or?

Can you afford PCT etc. do you know what it is?

Twenty questions I know. But the more info you can provide us w/ the better informed we can help you become.

Blessings,

Blessings,

I am 5'11",health wise I am no athlete but generally healthy normal bp,cholesterol, etc,I have been lifting for 9 months from the first pic till the last before that I did some weights for shot putt but that was 17 yrs ago and mainly just heavy squats and clean and jerk/snatch no bodybuilding type lifting ever till 9 months ago.

For those 9 months I have been dedicated religiously 4x per week.

I know about PCT after aas shut you down and I can afford it I am confused as there is so much differing opinion regarding nolvadex/clomid/hcg some things I have read say nolva all through cycle some say not and so on its actually terrifying.Regarding the whole subject I know bits but this is the first time I have dipped a toe in to the murky waters,at the minute all I take is whey and a multi-vit,I thought buying my first protein powder was hardcore:D

Welcome to EF! You've put in a ton of work, obviously and that is a hell of a transformation for just 9 months.

For PCT make sure you read this sticky: http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/anabolic-steroids/new-post-cycle-therapy-2008-a-582357.html

Yeah, it's written by a sponsor but has solid science behind it and a lot of members here have had great results with their products and protocols.

Based on the dedication you've shown and the fact that you've lost about 150 LBS of FAT I think you're pretty much ready. BUT, I'd like to see to your diet and routine.

One question is how did you lose the weight? Calorie reduction, low carb, surgery, what?

What is your current routine?

Ok, here's a couple thoughts.

Will the tummy tuck be happening anytime soon? If you start a 10 week cycle say... An operation would certainly hinder your ablity to lift.

This might seem like a strange question, but... does your signaficant other (if you have one) know your thinking of taking something? Will they be supportive if you do?

Next is diet. You need to be able to afford to get at least 200gm of protien everyday!! Also, h20 intake, @ least 4 litres a day. I'm sure you have that covered w/ al lthe dieting you've been doing.

All that being said I might consider going w/ something like this:

Wks 1-10 250mg Test E or Test C
wks. 3-12 250iu twice a week of HCG
wks 12-16 Test Recovery Stack from Primordial Performance

I wouls also get some armidex and keep it on hand for bloat and gyno sides, which you may be prone to given your weight issues in the past.

There are much wiser folks on EF then myself, but I think this is nice start given your details.

I lost the weight mainly by counting calories usually 2000-2300 per day high protein(200g per day average) carbs and fat adjusted to hit calories some times high carb sometimes high fat.Diet was usually 5 meals per day mostly healthy but not obsessive,no point going totally clean and giving up 2 weeks in.I wouldnt have surgery because like I said in my first post I plan eventually to add a lot of muscle and that kind of goes against what bariatric surgery is for.

As for the workouts I sort of cobbled a routine together and stuck with it as it was working but I suppose in my state anything would have worked it was mainly large compound exercises for each bodypart

Sat: chest +tris(12 working sets for chest 9 for tris)
Sun:Back+bis(12 working sets for back 9 for bis)

Tue:Shoulders legs(12 working sets shoulders,12 legs cant go too heavy bad knees from stupid heavy squats when I was young)

Reps and exercises changed every few months)

Abs twice a week normally 15 mins various exercises what with the skin it felt like a labour in vain no one was ever gonna see them but they feel pretty solid under it all:lol:

Cardio just walking the dog(pretty brisk) round the local hills for 45 min 2-3x per week maybe 3 miles each time

hello there,

congrats on the weight loss, very impressive. to your original question doing a cycle doesn't depend on whether your too fat, else a lot of us perhaps shouldn't be doing it lol.

If you were planning on bulking to fill out a bit it would be vital to get your diet sorted for this change as i imagine it is geared towards weight loss presently. Training also should be sorted, but you've probs got that down as you've been at it 9 months. Many im sure would say a longer time training before aas use, however IMO if the dedication is in place and the previously mentioned factors are there then the decision to use is fine, you are 35 as you say.

in terms of the pct stuff you mentioned, generally nolva is not taken throughout a cycle unless you are aware you are gyno prone/get gyno through the cycle. Most first cycles, e,g. maybe dianabol only, or test e 250mg/week, a nolva only pct should suffice.

hope this helps

from the looks of the small pics I can see some great improvement, great job!

The tummy tuck is still in the pipeline my doc is back and forward with the PCT regarding funding either way it is months and months away if at all other than that a lot of saving is on the cards on my salary that is no mean feat:(.The stomach is bad and getting really lean is irrelevant it wont go but wether I get one soon or not my goal either way is to add a lot of size like I say the waist now for all its faults is 35-36" and if it could stay this side of 38" even adding a lot of size I could live with that, being"fat" in terms of bodybuilders dosent bother me in the slightest

As for my wife she is more open minded than me in her youth she took a few things she shouldnt where as I was an angel, its a bit of a role reversal but she realises itws important because even if I cant have the stomach I ever want I can alter the bits I can.
