How can you say that without knowing his friggn routine...........I'm in there 2x a day.........once first thing and once after work.....12 hours a part and my sessions are 1/2 hour of pure intensity..........one bodypart gets thrashed in a 1/2 hour 10x more so than doing 2 bodyparts in an hour where you lidt hard for the first bodypart, than the second gets the shaft cause you're fried from putting 110% into the first..........do the math.......
Quick name off some of the basic indicators of overtraining, or undereating if you prefer. Got them written down? Now compare your notes to what he initially wrote.
Was tired all the time one of your answers? That was how I decided he's likely over training. And that didn't even require any math.
Now, what would be useful is for you to describe how you trash yourself in a half an hour. I've never been able to do that. Sometimes an hour doesn't even do it, except on the days I've not eaten properly. I could alway use good tips on how to improve my lifting. Go easy on me though, I only have the luxury of 3 - 4 days a week of training and I only have about 1 1/2 hours or so to train. Not to mention I"m an olde fart and almost 47 years old and 210lbs.
An example of my routine would be
Chest/Back day
Abs - 4 sets of 50 reps at 120lbs
Flat bench - 1 x 15 185, 1 x 12 225, 1 x 8 315, 1 x 5 315
pec dec - 3 sets of 12 at 220lbs
incline flys - 1 x 15 45, 1 x 12 60, 1 x 8 65
Dips - 3 sets of 12 at body weight to + 25lbs
Deadlifts - 1 x 15 225, 1 x 12 315, 1 x 6 415, 1 x 8 315
Pullups - 3 sets of 8 - 12 at bodyweight + 25lbs
Dumbbell rows - 1 x 12 90, 1 x 10 100, 1 x 8 110
High rows (hammer strenght machine) 1 x 12 180, 1 x 12 270, 1 x 8 320
Seated rows VERY strict - 1 x 15 80, 1 x 12 100, 1 x 8 120
I take a pre workout drink and a post workout drink and some times toss in 20 minutes of work on the treadmill
I do so appreciate any input.
