Am I overtraining?

Pump101

New member
I am on 400 mg of deca per week and 50 mg of Winny EOD.

Day 1- chest and tris
Day 2- back and bis
Day 3- legs and shoulders
Day 4- rest
Repeat

I do cardio 3-4 times a week first thing in the morning.

I feel tired all the time and that is why i am asking?

Looks close to my schedule except I split the Legs and Shoulders into thier own days.
I'm only on 200 G whey protein and C,E and a Multi. VIT

Also I have to get up at 5 am and I hit the tired-Wall about 6 pm at night.

IMO it's the Cardio that makes me feel burned out.

Like genetiking said: eat more.

And why so much cardio while on an empty stomach? you trying to gain mass or what? Why you sabotaging yourself unless this is a cutting cycle?

I doubt you are overtraining, but you aren't doing everything as good as you could be.

first of all, DO NOT do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

I would cut the cardio down to 2-3 days a week, too.

The split is fine, although i would throw shoulders in with chest/triceps.

And of course, eat more.

why would you NOT DO cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach? that's probably the best way in the world to burn fat (provided you have proper post workout nutrition as not to go to catabolic)

why?

and IMHO you are overtraining with that split, you need more rest days. try: push, pull, rest, legs shoulders, rest, repeat.

you can not train 3 days in a row efficiently

Shit, he is overtraining, LOL.

I didn't realize that you were repeating after only one day rest, bad idea.

Do that routine with my changes, but only work each muscle group once per week. Preferaby, split it into Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Valdez, I'm not going to start this debate all over again, but if you have something new to add, please do. We are having this debate over in nutrition now, you can find it here: http://209.11.101.244/forum/showthread.php?threadid=7689

Maybe for you, but not everyone is the same?
Keep in mind he is having some help.
If he is continuing to see progress why would he be overtraining?

Overtraining is a state that happens for a extended period of time, not in a matter of several weeks.

I am new to the boards, but I have been exercising for quite some time. Over the past 6 months I've dropped 70lbs. Yay me.

But I think I maybe overtraining. I have been doing double cardio everyday for the last 3 weeks, and I feel great. I see results, fat is coming off... but I have noticed that I feel fully rested with only 6 hours of sleep everynight. I wake up and the first thing on my mind is heading over to the gym to run. It's almost like a drug. But I still eat 5-6 times a day, my appetite has not changed, nor do I sleep during the day. I do not know if it's my "circadian rhythm" of getting up at the same time everyday and running which is causing the change in my sleep patterns, or if it's a sign of overtraining. I also read something about testing your HR during exercise for symptoms of overtraining. Any help would be appreciated greatly!

It depends on volume and intensity.

High intensity, high volume and high frequency will lead to overtraining. Balance the 3.

That and it also has to do with your diet, rest, supplementation.

Varies from person to person. No formula to find out.

How long are your workouts? Are you sure you are geting QUALITY sleep? How long have you been training like this for?

my diet is very good... since june i have been eating 5-6 small meals everyday, xenadrine boosters in the morn before cardio(40 min)... about 3 weeks ago i added an afternoon session where i train 1 body part(20 min), then do some more cardio(30 min) while my glycogen is low, then down some whey protein when i get home... about a week ago i started doing tom venuto's BFFM with a 3 low/1 high setup with my double cardio workout routine... i'm always constantly changing my routines so my body doesnt have time to adapt so i can burn fat efficiently... i just dont want any long term effects due to overtraining, if thats even what i'm doing... tom even mentioned that cardio 7 days a week is a good idea, so if i'm overtraining then i'm calling him a liar!!
