New member
I have been a member here for over 3 years under the name "Hercules". Now I was not really active on the board for about roughly about 6-7 months due to a new job and adjusting...basically I was very busy. When I began having more time on my hands I started posting on here and my account was fine, still active and all. Now I supposedly have not used it for 21 days as this e-mail I received says and my acount has been deactivated unless I upgrade to a Platinum memeber. I think this is very stupid as it puts me in a decision where I have no choice but to become a Platinum member or lose my account. If this is the case then screw this because not everyone can afford to have the luxury of being a Platinum member so why try to force them to be??

Anyhow below is a copy of the e-mail I received so you can all read for yourselves as to what it is all about.

Now you tell me your thoughts on this??

Sure. Your old account is gone unless you go platinum and stay platinum.

I for one would like to support this board financialy. However, as a student I simply don't have the money to pay every month. I'm not willing to lose my account because I cannot contribute indefinately.

I would have to agree with you. The same thing happend to me. I was here in 2000. I am a business owner and do understand the profit side of the issue. However, if they allow you to sign up for free then there ought to be a longer time in which to be "inactive" before they kill the account and then to continue only if you pay. I believe that there would be more people in "platinum" if there were more incentives to do so. I know there are some but evidently not enough if they feel they have to close the account after a short 21 days of inactivity. I believe they should promote the free site on elite and then with peoples own desire to want to see all of the great things by going Platinum they would probably sign up if they could. Even if it was only for a few months at a time, then after they let it expire they could go back to the free membership without having to start over. Good post.

The thing that pisses me off is that this is supposed to be a free site no matter how active or inactive your account is and then they try to loure you in by pulling stunts like this. If you actually think about it it is a free site but to an extent where they want to make you join then try and put you in a position where you have to pay a fee to keep your account.

The same thing happened to me, I sent a few e-mails to admin letting them know that I thought this ploy was bullshit. I do enjoy posting this board so I bit the bullet and went platinum. I had been platinum in the past and let it laspe because I rarely use any of its features. I feel for you bro.:(

PM EF Sam. She's helped some of the other members get their old accounts back. Be cordial and hopefully she'll help.

EF Sam's a she?

Haha. Well apparently no one knows for sure... but that's what a lot of people think. Sometimes when people talk to EF Sam it's a guy... it may be more than one person.
