Just got done with rifle season in OK and have a freezer full of every cut you can imagine. What are your secrets for cooking it?
Jerky? Steak? Roast?

We have deer in our freezer EVERY year. Hubby is an avid hunter as well.

Have you ever tried processing your own deer meat? Do you? Or do you have it done by a local meat packing company?

My hubby has done his own processing for the past six year's. Can I say? The venison has a much better FLAVOR since then as well! Try renting or buying this tape/DVD: Deer Processing II by Larry Metz. I PROMISE YOU WILL NEVER ALLOW ANOTHER PROCESSOR TOUCH THE VENISON AGIN. IT MAKES THAT BIG A DIFFERENCE IN THE FLAVOR!

You can cook a WELL PROCESSED venison like ANY other meat. I never had ANY luck with a good roast, chops, etc UNTIL my hubby processed his own venison!
 
Hey, I am the biggest deerhunter I know. I'm from MA and my brother is a hunting guide in Nebraska. I hunted Nebraska Alabama MA and Conneticut this year. Have about 300 pounds of deer meat.

I have the meat hamburger and sausages....you name it. I make meatloaf, hamburgers, I want to make jerkey, I heard it was awesome.

Soak it in buttermilk for a day, it will tenderize it bigtime.

My favorite thing to do is make about 200 hamburgers, and freeze them. Everytime your hungry have a burger!!

good to see the hunters on this board! Bowhunter and rifleman here in Mo!!! Venison is some LEAN meat I tell you!
 
Have a frezzer full my self thanks to the son-in-law. I get a lot of Deer Jerkey made great high protein snack!
